UPDATED-Facebook counter-offensive launched by other Reform team!

Anyone who wants to take the "close friends only" Survey Monkey poll contact its creator.

 _______________

Say it ain't so!  Reform team using Beth Mason-esque poll tactics!

What's a campaign's remedy when the  facts (poll data) don't favor you?

Make your own!

GA caught wind of a Survey Monkey poll circulating on Facebook among "close friends" of the Giattino campaign.

Survey Monkey polls are 'people-powered'- anyone can create a Survey Monkey poll to circulate via social media, email, or amongst a selected pool of Facebook friends.

While professional campaign polling has no bias other than polling 'likely voters', the inherent bias of creating a poll and sending it to 'friends' needs no explanation.  While professional campaign polling only allows 'one vote per person' all one needs to do to cheat an online poll is to open a new browser and/or clear your browser history (deleting your cookies.)

Online polls have been the fodder of merriment on this website in years past.

Take a look at the one done last September, before Democratic gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy knocked off rivals NJ Mayor Steve Fulop and NJ Senate President Steven Sweeney.  At the time, former Councilwman Beth Mason was spraying cash at the Sweeney campaign like a feral cat marking her territory.  It was no secret that she was lobbying hard for a spot at Sweeney's side on his ticket.  In an effort to manipulate public perception that she was more popular than she actually was, observers of this poll saw   Mason's votes shoot up into triple-digit territory within hours, leaving the 'real' candidates in the dust!

Ha ha! Mason ended the poll at 51%. Yeah, right.

Internet polls are fun (GA confesses to playing with them), but essentially worthless.  They are useful to manipulate public opinion for/against a candidate, an issue, a policy, you name it.  Internet polls were often deployed by Mason-propagandist Hoboken411, like this one:

Hoboken411 Internet poll

So, GA doesn't understand why a reformer's  mayoral campaign would resort to a privately disseminated internet poll (Survey Monkey) unless it wanted to create fake news.

Ler's keep it real, people.  Manipulation of public opinon is not going to keep City Hall in reform hands.

    1. Yeah, the allegation this is any campaign directed Facebook poll is frankly a fiction or in this complete science fiction.

I've reached out to Franz about his personal poll - that he labels as such.

Was he even contacted before the phony allegations made here? Nope.
Zero effort to ask who if ANYONE was behind his little personal FB.

If GA "doesn't understand why a reformer's mayoral campaign would resort" to not doing something; it kinda pays not to make it up. MSV will report on this non-report and do so accurately.

Not this Hoboken411 false attack on a private citizen. Franz has every right to act as a private citizen and ask opinions on his Facebook page.

Sad, very very sad. Meltdown medication is really direly needed. SMH.
This isn't helping Ravi. He deserves better.

Go back to the Purple Pillow Press, a.k.a. Crazy Town. Maybe I should send out a "friend's only" Survey Monkey poll to see how many Hoboken residents find you are credible after months of posting Alt-Right conspiracy theories including Russia-collusion denial.

Look who's talking. You didn't contact Ravi even once with all the garbage you've been spewing, including the offer to Peter Cunningham. You make shit up more often than you change horse shoes. Franz is a limited public figure in the context of Hoboken politucs, unless you forgot his 2011 city council campaign. So cut the crap and go cry in your site that nobody reads.

    3. now i remember why i haven't read MSV more than a few times since last fall's presidential election. i recall giving it a try again a few months ago, most of the posts were wacky infowars BS or things that he (literally) just lifted directly from this blog (except presented in a way that suggested a remedial writing course was in order). and the most recent comments were dated a day and more ago, a far cry from when people went there all the time for active discussion and posts would get 20-30 comments. can't imagine jen feels very comfortable with the public perception of that blog being her mouthpiece/cheerleader. who knows, maybe she is.

    4. Yawn, traffic is up and growing. Feel free to make up lies here coward. You don't have the guts to come to MSV and even try to make an argument. Because you can't you crybaby coward.

    5. um, ok, thanks for proving my point, roman. you're unable to accept reality and facts, everyone can plainly see that you get about 80% fewer comments than you used to (most of them now are from the same four or five commenters) and i personally know a number of people who bailed on MSV around the time i did.

but hey, if you want to do your wackjob alt-right BS thing, that's cool, more power to you. i'm sure jen is proud of you.

    6. Traffic is up. Way up and continues to grow so maybe you think you matter more than you do but I wish Grafix Avenger good luck always and to stay out of trouble and be fair to Hoboken residents and not make up a Mel Gibson Conspiracy Theory sequel. That's not cool. I'm about the facts and you can name call all you want but you don't have the balls to come to MSV and make hollow accusations. You wouldn't be able to get out with those lies without a full on butt kicking. I'll let you do it here where it's more fitting.

Celebrating the Bhalla campaign is your Constitutional right even if it puts Hoboken's contracts on an insider trading block but targeting and attacking Hoboken residents' personal Facebook page with zero evidence, sorry, that's just 100% plain wrong. Hoboken411ish conspiracy slinging is not pretty.

Now if you had any facts you'd read something about the Awan Bros., Fusion GPS and a whole lotta facts with actual evidence, reams of it. But Reason.com ain't the flavor of the day, but who cares? This election is about Hoboken finding the best candidate.

Sorry if that upsets you and a free and fair election where the citizens get to decide is an issue. Whatever.

    7. i can't even figure out what you're talking about half the time...out of politeness, let's just say relevant analogies and wordsmithing aren't your strong points. if your traffic is growing so much, how come hardly anyone comments anymore? all i'm getting nowadays from you are a bunch of juvenile, pseudo-macho threats of verbal abuse which, again, i'm sure makes jen quite proud to have you as her lead mouthpiece/cheerleader.

    8. No, you can't figure out the English language, so what. For those that do: MSV has news with bonafide facts not made up conspiracy theories. There's plenty of comments right on the homepage of stories. Oh and yes, you don't have any balls to lie on MSV. Come on by coward. That's right, I called you a coward. Again.

Ravi ain't proud of your efforts. He deserves better. There's an election, get over it.

you know what's really sad? we were side by side not long ago, standing up against a corrupting force in town. i was a john doe, and while i didn't have to spend as much as you did on defending yourself in the bajardi case, i was there in body, mind and spirit.

Boy are you brave here, just not brave enough to actually formulate an argument on MSV where I'd give you a far bigger beating.

You're a great reflection of deluded thinking, bad argumentation and phoniness through and through.

Hoboken has two mayoral candidates with very good council voting records. There's some differences to consider and then there's the issue of who will be the best executive for Hoboken as mayor and dedicate themselves as Mayor Zimmer to that office without using it as a springboard to elevate themselves into another office.

Do you feel lucky punk? Well, do you?

Is it because the factual mention of the phony allegation Jen Giattino should have had a filed ELEC report is not actually accurate nor true. No, not a technical violation by her or her campaign manager Tiffanie Fisher, the second ward councilwoman and Hoboken Democratic Chair. It's not slightly illegal, simply factually inaccurate.

Why didn't Ravi Bhalla file his ELEC reports since last year?

MSV will try to obtain the factual details (whether this is deleted or not).

And the fact that you admit that got the poll along other "friends" only reinforces what I've written. 3. But Nancy what your wrote is simply not true. The Facebook poll was a personal inquiry to friends - by one person. In fact he explicitly said exactly that. It was not circulated. It was not circulated on or off Facebook by any friends. It was not circulated by friends of the Giattino campaign. It was one person's Facebook poll of their friends.

It only reinforces the fact that your story was made up. But we all knew that.
Yes, I'm actually discussing an issue related to your story although it's not a real Hoboken issue. It's a made up one.

None of which is a crime. Pointing out a simple fact however may lead to censorship. Are you going to censor this comment for merely pointing out the obvious?

      Let's see.

You've told everyone ad nauseum how you feel about my post. I disagree. You've used your own site to let everyone know how you feel. My story was not "made up" you idiot. Franz put up an ONLINE mayoral poll "for hoboken residents" that he only sent to his "close friends" on Facebook- what kind of fucking poll is THAT? I know.... one to get the result that one gets when they send a poll to friends of the candidate. Franz just got busted. Hyperventilate about it until the cows come home. Nothing was "made up"- those are the FACTS, and my OPINION about the intent and purpose of the "personal poll" (NOT- Survey Monkey is the PUBLIC DOMAIN). Now, go fuck yourself.

jen has every right to run, if she wants. i have no problem with that, good for her. but at some point, if she doesn't step up and grab back control of the narrative, she'll have to own all this BS surrounding her run. we all watched mason and her delusional/egomaniacal crew self-sabotage her campaign(s), i can't imagine someone as smart as jen would think that way or let that happen to her campaign.

    1. I've long observed indie attempt to present herself as an independent-minded reformy type while aggressively pursuing her own interest. Now, she's widely known to be in the core group behind the Giattino campaign while continuing to purport to be a "concerned citizen."

It's fine to be a strong supporter of a candidate and an advocate for their campaign. It's ok to keep your distance from any campaign and maintain credibility as an independent observer and concerned citizen.

It's not ok to do both. You have to pick a role and stick with it or lose all credibility. The last person who tried to play that game was Lane Bajardi, and it didn't end well for him.

      Delete
  5. I have not seen this internet poll. How do I find it? Agreed that Jen would not condone this behavior even from supporters. It's desperate and amateurish, feels like someone printing dollar bills with a printer or forging mom and dad's signature on their report card. Who would do something so goofy.

    ReplyDelete
  6. HaHa Something Burger; I'm getting a good chuckle out of your comment. I really love your logic. So, to use your analogy property owners that want to see taxes kept low are just 'reformy types' "aggressively pursuing their own interest"? Do you see anything wrong with that? I'm one that aggressive fights for affordability and against displacement; sure that's in my interest, but it's also in the interest of a clear majority of residents (including property owners in case you're confused about who is impacted by affordability.) Too bad it's been ignored for so long...

But the thing that really made me chuckle about your comment is... I'm wondering why you believe someone can't be a concerned citizen AND a strong supporter of any particular candidate. (hint: you're the one that inserted "independent observer" into the discussion, not me.) Concerned citizens pay attention to what's going on in town and are likely to have opinions about candidates for elected office.

Oh, by the way, love the comparison to Lane Bajardi. Kind of remember that he was the one that was casting people that disagreed with him as the bad guy & slung words like MORON, nasty and ignorant at people (commenters) that disagreed with him. He also was a supporter in blocking commenters that disagreed with his view so that there was only a 1-way dialectic.

What is that they say about history repeating itself? Still chuckling over here. hehe-haha.

By "independent" I mean you're not really reform, you're always for sale to the highest bidder. 4. Sigh.

Well, I suppose you can always deny it, and of course I have no incontrovertible proof, but I point the court of public opinion to Exhibit A:
      "Wow. Shocker. Vote no.

A few years ago, before Cunningham was in office, before he started the Hoboken Dog Assn solely to accumulate supporters, I was in a social setting with his wife, the realtor. She was complaining loudly about their tenant on the top floor that they were having trouble getting rid of. She described him as one of those types who know everything about rent control and they lived their forever and they just couldn't get rid the him even thought they needed more room for themselves. She said this with an infant in a stroller and those two ridiculous sized dogs. So that's what it's about for the Cunninghams - kick out their tenant (who they knew lived there when they bought the building) for more room for the dogs. BTW, the building they live in probably housed multiple families at one point. Welcome to the new Hoboken. It's a cold, heartless, elitist place where I got mine and if you don't have as much as me - well, you not really worth my time or energy, are you?

And Cunningham owns a rental building on 7th street. Self-serving creep."

So how is talking about it inappropriate? And referring friends to a poll is a pretty obvious attempt to skew results of what was a meaningless exercise anyway since it lacks even a semblance of scientific rigor. You know - probability and statistics which are kinds of math. The thing Hoboken's next mayor needs to be really good at according to some who feel the current administration and Ravi are lacking in that important skill set.

After Mason was kicked out of town as it were, I stopped reading the websites Horse and GA, as that drama was finished. Saw that Mayor is stepping down, and came back to check out the sites. First I checked Horse, and was REALLY surprised to see it was an empty town. Then I check GA, and was really suprised to see all the graphics changed, and that she is to my eye being attacked. All I can say, is based on reading the exchanges above, I would vote for Bhallia, only because the representative for Giattino seems unhinged. AND as a Hoboken Resident, I will ALWAYS be grateful for BOTH sites and their authors, as BOTH were SO instrumental in changing the entire fabric of this town for the MUCH better. Does not seem like a possibility, BUT hopefully at some point, both authors can find a detente, and we can once again have an US thats is US, and a THEM, that is THEM.
