What is with politicians who forsake their constituents during public emergencies? They'll leave us in artic temperatures with no electricity, heat, nor running water, they'll fly off to sunny beaches as coronavirus infections spike and spread through the City of Hoboken. Adding insult to injury, those postcards...
Unhappy 1st Coronavirus-a-versary. What a tragic year it's been. And hard. Like many of you, I've chosen not to travel within the U.S. to see family. I'm not allowed to visit my daughter at college. As much as it sucks, CDC guidelines are our only way out: wearing a mask, social-distancing, avoiding crowds and ALL pleasure trips. Dr. Fauci reminds us, "covid needs to replicate in order to mutate." Simply put, introducing the virus to new hosts will result in new variants, so stay the fuck home.
It's no fun. But neither is being dead.
And our postcard- luvin', pleasure-tripping politicians know better. What's the tell? The way they quietly slink off to paradise without saying a word to their constituents. Poof, gone from Facebook for 3 weeks, a lull from February 9 to March 1.
And when their constituents find out? A red-faced politician may claim some "emergency," that he had to travel... but don't believe it! Such weasels always blame someone else rather than their own poor judgment. Like Senator Ted Cruz blamed his daughter for his escape to sunny Cancun.
Who or what will Councilman Mike Defusco blame for fleeing his Hoboken consituents amidst a soaring COVID-19 infection-rate last month?
Yes, in mid-February, DeFusco shrugged off dire CDC and U.S. State Department COVID-19 advisories against international travel, and flew to Columbia, missing the Hoboken City Council Meeting on February 17.
