UPDATE: Giattino Joint Committee ELEC missing $48,207.70 in disbursements

UPDATE: ELEC "disbursement" reporting mystery SOLVED!

Yes, the Joint Committee receipts and disbursements are missing.  That is because the report filed  is a hybrid.  Until the Joint Committee refiles an amended report, the public is in the dark on the financial activity of the campaign for the period overlapping the November 7 election/
______________

Well folks, those AWOL 20-day post election ELEC reports are appearing!

Mike DeFusco for Mayor's individual ELEC report is in (but not his slate's), so is Giattino for Mayor's Joint Committee report (but not her individual report).

So, when GA cracked open Giattino's Joint Committee report filed on December 14, 2017, I got a big surprise: the disbursement schedules reported "zero" (remember this reporting period overlaps the election), and the Joint committee's total expenditures (including disbursements) being reported on page one were about 1/3 of the total disbursements on page 11 (last page).

What's missing?

Oh, $48.5K in disbursements.

GIATTINO JOINT COMMITTEE- 20 DAY POST-ELECTION REPORT

And if that doesn't make sense, then let's compare the page one receipts/expenditures tabulations of Giattino's Joint Committee 11 day pre-election reports with their 20-day post election report.

It's a bit early for an April Fool's joke.

The  20-Day Post-Election report was certified true by Giattino's Joint Committee and her Treasurer.

Campaign receipts and expenditures are public information.

Is this a reporting error?

An ELEC screw-up?

Or is this a deliberate effort on behalf of the campaign to conceal their receipts and expenditures?

All GA can say is there is a $48.2K reporting discrepancy and ZERO information being provided by the Joint Committee on receipts and expenditures for a period that starts 11 days prior to election day.

A mistake or Dark Side accounting?

  1. Instead of these jokers trying to inject themselves into a complicated city audit they lack the capacity to understand, perhaps they should hire an auditor to help them get their campaign filings straight? DUH

  3. Can Tiffanie hire an auditor for her friend Jen? Jokers.

  4. pains me to say it about supposed reformers but they're all so full of crap. jen hasn't exhibited the character i always thought she did, and tiff's turned out to be not much more than a BSer in love with the sound of her own voice.

change is good. time for change.

  5. I think this is most likely an innocent easily corrected mistake. Dave Dening, Jen's campaign treasurer is a good guy and I'm sure whatever mistake was made with the filing will be promptly corrected.

Of more concern are the wild false allegations implicitly being made against Mr. Dening and his HHA colleagues by Roman Brice.

Mr. Dening, in addition to being Jen's treasurer, is the Chairman of the Hoboken Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. Mr. Brice is hurling all kinds of wild allegations about the handling of the Garcia settlement, which as GA reported was approved by the HHA Board (with Mr. Dening's vote) on November 9, two days after the election. Mr. Brice claims that he has "information" (that he will share "soon") that the HHA Board (that would be Mr. Dening and his colleagues) withheld information from the public about the settlement until after the election for nefarious political reasons.

I'm sure Mr. Brice is wrong, as usual. Mr. Dening would never politicize his HHA position, especially with regard to such an important matter in which he himself (as well as fellow Commissioners David Mello and James Sanford) is a defendant. It's also beyond me how delaying Board approval of the settlement until after the election could have conceivably benefited Council President Giattino's mayoral campaign, which Mr. Dening served as treasurer, or Freeholder Romano's campaign, on which Mr. Mello ran as a council candidate.

Brice is intellectually and emotionally incapable of understanding that his tin foil hat accusations are actually wrongfully targeting Mr. Dening and Mr. Mello rather than the other folks he's actually trying to wrongfully defame.

    1. You're kind, numbers. The report is 3 weeks late. Who wants to supervise the City's auditor?

    2. Well if I were Denning, I'd tell Jen to file her own damn filings or get her pet horse under control.

    3. If our alt-right-whackos-only website were doing anything wrong, would one of our as many as four participants Indie still be participating there?

And thank you as always to Indie for not being bothered by the way we mocked female victims of sexual predators. If only other women would follow her shining example and focus on their own interests and mind their own business. After all, it didn't happen to anyone you know personally, so leave it alone. #MAGA!

  6. Yeah there's a lot missing from this report which GA does a great job capturing.

To summarize in my own words:

    1) It's missing the cumulative information from the previous reports

    2) The last page says there were 37K in deposits this period but the first page claims only $1,200, all under $300 so no details are given. Assuming the last page is correct it's likely the ~35K in donations over $300 were left off.

    3) The first page claims no spending/disbursements for this period, the final page claims 73K, the spending detail pages are blank.

    4) If the candidates had read and signed off on the campaign finance report on December 1, remember the report was due into the County by Nov-27, why didn't Elec receive this until December 14? The mail doesn't take that long.

    5) We're still missing Jen Giattino's personal campaign finance report which is now over 3 weeks late.

I wonder if Tiffanie or anyone else plans to file a complaint to Elec over the missing or flawed reports.

    1. Also, I had heard Giattino loaned her campaign money. If that is true, where is it? On the individual ELEC report? This is a mess. DO NOT let these folks near our City's Independent Auditor!

  7. @numberscruncher I believe GA's salient point is Jen, Dave Denning, et al., may be nice and make innocent and/or careless mistakes, but they are behaving less than professionally and in Jen and Tiff's case --- she was the Chairwoman of 4th Place/3rd in her own Ward Jen Giattino's campaign --- hypocritically.

Don't you think that it's more than a bit rich that the two elected city council members who can't get their act together with regard to basic public campaign financial disclosure now want to have auditors audit the city's professional auditor thereby legislating a reversal in Mayor electoral results by grabbing power for themselves?

This really stinks. I'm a bit flabbergasted/amazed that Peter has willfully signed up for this amateur hour shit show. Why is Peter with them? Unlike them he goes to a job with professionals every day with professional accountability. Goofy tag-a-long Peter.
