Getting info from Hoboken's mayoral campaigns is like trying to crack a lobster with a toothpick.
Slate selection is a difficult task for any campaign. Finding folks to run with is complicated by the fact that few qualified folks are willing to suffer the slings and arrows of Hoboken politics. Which means a campaign's choices are limited, and the top of the ticket has to lobby hard. This mating dance of campaigns to attract good people has already begun.
But, like I said, no one's been talking. So here is all I know.
Anthony 'Stick' Romano is interviewing candidates. GA can confirm that his campaign has approached members of the Reform coalition, including Councilman Dave Mello. The campaign has one serious prospect in contention, but they are staying mum for now. GA was able to get the campaign to say that any association with "that crew" that has "no loyalty.... is NOT happening!"
Ravi Bhalla is not talking!
Tiffanie Fisher (Jen Giattino's spokeswoman) is not talking!
Karen Nason (last I heard) is awaiting confirmation from folks she has asked.
Ron the Bike Guy, according to his Facebook page doesn't appear to have a slate- yet.
Mike Defusco has two confirmed runningmates, which puts him ahead of the Hoboken pack.
DeFusco's first pick candidate is Michael Flett, a Tea Party Trump-donating Republican.
His second is Andrew Impostato, an entrepreneurial fellow who created a parking app called Parking Dude. Last year, Impostato answered an RFP from the City of Hoboken for a parking app; he put in a bid and lost. The winning bidder was Parkmobile LLC.
"Customers will be able to download the Parkmobile app onto their phone or register at www.parkmobile.com. They can then use the app, the internet or a toll free phone number to pay for parking. Hoboken Police officers and Parking Utility agents equipped with a wireless device will be able to see that a parked car has been paid for through Parkmobile. Mobile app users can sign up for alerts 15 minutes before their time expires. Hoboken will join Newark, Union City, West New York, Bloomfield, Montclair, Summit, Chatham, Ridgewood, Glen Rock and New Brunswick in adopting the app.
The Parkmobile smartphone payment system is separate from the Parking Dude app developed by Hoboken resident Andrew Impastato, which tells users where and when they can park and even tracks the availability of spaces around town."Another article about Impastato's parking app notes:
"In fact, the city could end up partnering with Impastato, who approached the Zimmer Administration with the idea of a cooperative relationship, in which Hoboken would promote the app to parking permit holders."Umm... interesting.
From recent Tweets, it looks like DeFusco's running mate has a keen focus on Hoboken's parking "technology and innovation" which is also his personal business, in which he has an economic interest.
Has DeFusco promised his running mate any economic benefit (like a contract with Hoboken)? Just askin'.
GA can confirm that Mike DeFusco offered Councilman Mello a position on his slate right after Dawn Zimmer announced she wasn't running. According to my source, that was the first actual offer made to Mello by DeFusco-the rest was "flirting."
So, what happened? Mello mulled over the offer, then declined "because of the people surrounding DeFusco."
You heard it here, folks.
Well, GA will keep you posted if I hear anything more than crickets.
Your entire blog is full on blanket misinformation. Just outright lies and created falsehoods. Bias & smears. Zero credibility. No truth to any of it. I'm curious where you get your information from??
ReplyDeleteIs that so, "Lisa"? Nice of you to visit all the way from Newark. Don't let the door bang your rump on the way out, "Lisa."
DeleteThank you for proving my point. Zero fact, and even
DeleteLess credibility.
It's uncanny how every time this site shines a light on the sleazy DeFusco candidacy/ campaign, some cockroach shows up to attack this blog. Never fails. Tonight's roach is named "Lisa." Will someone direct "Lisa" to a Roach Motel? Roaches go in, but they don't come out!
Delete@ Lisa, GA has put in her time and then some and earned her credibility and then some. You have done neither. People believe GA, no one believes you.
DeleteLet me know if any of that was confusing.
I like your picture Nancy!!! My state is proud That has to be a Maine Lobster!!! It's coming give me just a wee bit more time!
ReplyDelete"Nobody is talking " because everyone is late for the game it seems .. and they are all flirting with the same people , at least the seasoned politicians .. the other ones are being boiled .. slowly .. like a lobster
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see what the REFORM crew chooses for dinner ... microwave pasta vs a burned out Karma Cafe .
ReplyDeleteBurned out Karma Cafe? Please explain.
Deletewha? i can't figure out what you're talking about half the time.
DeleteI debated hosing the comment, but I think the DeFusco surrogate's stupidity on display does their campaign harm.
DeleteThis comment from HobokenedOut is by far the worst yet. Congrats on sinking to a new low!
DeleteThe thinly veiled racist comment, alluding to one candidate's Indian heritage and another's Italian surname is consistent with the old guard crowd, one of whom once referred to Bhalla as an "animal". DeFusco is too green to know that if he were to scratch the surface of even his most vocal supporters, he'd soon find he's in a snake's nest of homophobes, but he's too blinded by his ambition and believes the lies they're whispering to him. Unless they do their usual illegal vote harvesting, he is unelectable and he will have squandered all good will in this community. Like Mason, he's already being shunned.
DeleteHowever .. Defusco is portrayed here as the Hamburger Jihadi , a dolphin , a piece of toast .. a Trojan horse .. etc .. and that seems ok to you guys .. I'd like to see the other candidates in a similar image to see what your thoughts may be .
DeleteTo be clear, Hobokened Out, I do straight up political satire. I don't do ethnic/ racial/ LGBTQ humor or poke fun at a person's looks (except for Christie- see the fatty clause in my contract).
DeleteNothing racist about it .. that was not the intention.. this post shows a lobster being served for dinner and explains how trying to get information is like trying to crack it open ... it makes allusion to what the so called "REFORMERS" will end up choosing .. which will end up being a cartoon version of what they had before .. a second hand quality meal / restaurant to say the least .. everyone is free to make their assumptions , however I'm using the lobster analogy here ... that's all
ReplyDeletenice try, HO. if it wasn't racially or ethnically motivated, then why did you select italian food and an indian restaurant as the reform choices? huh? why not spanish or german cuisine?
DeleteHobokenedout- Yea, right. And I have a bridge to sell you . . .in Brooklyn.
