Insider Notes is reporting that Ricky and Beth Mason will be hosting a private fundraiser at their digs for NJ Democratic Senator, Bob Menendez on Monday night.
Well, in spite of the cloud overhanging the Councilwoman due to revelations of her shady ELEC filing, we hope that Bob's coffers will be filled with rare gold dubloons and other fine treasure. Because without heaps of loot, it's nearly impossible to get elected these days... or is it?
Hoboken politics have a way of flipping conventional wisdom on its head... maybe excesses of money have the opposite effect here in Hoboken, maybe lavish expenditures on campaign accessories like videographers, spokespersons, consultants, high-end print and television ads and so on, actually repel voters? Is that possible?
I know my vote's not for sale. Unless the price is right. (Just kidding, humorless Hoboken Reporter folks)
Well, I hope Monday night's soiree works well for Senator Bob. I'm curious if he knows that Ricky Mason endorsed the partisan Republican Real Results slate of candidates in the recent (non-partisan) Board of Education race? And that Beth Mason's pet lizards over at 411 were working it hard for these right wing Republicans to take over our School Board. In my view, the objective of Real Results was to sneak partisan elections into Hoboken through the BoE-back door, establishing a foothold for future Republican party candidates here in Hoboken. And the Masons supported this effort.
Whatever. ka-ching! ka-ching! Oh the sweet sound of our fair and free democratic election process. Fill up that bucket!

What's the fund-raising for? Bob's legal defense fund perhaps?
ReplyDeleteI bet you won't see any suspicious blue chicken nuggets at this soiree.
