Breaking today on the New Jersey Globe:
"A former New Jersey state assemblyman is the alleged co-conspirator in a bribery and kickback scheme involving Newark city councilman Joseph McCallum and real estate investor Malik A. Frederick, the New Jersey Globe has learned.
Carmelo Garcia, a Hoboken Democrat who served in the legislature form 2014 to 2016, is Co-Conspirator #2 in a criminal complaint filed by U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito.
Garcia, 45, served as the executive vice president of the Newark Community and Economic Development Corporation from 2016 to 2017, and as Newark’s Deputy Mayor for Economic Development from 2017 to 2018."
The criminal cases were announced last Tuesday by U.S. Attorney's Office press release. Defendants McCallum and Frederick were charged separately.
"Co-Conspirator #2" makes his appearance in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA vs. MALIK FREDERICK a/k/a “J. Malik A. Frederick” where he is described this way: "There was an individual (“Co-Conspirator 2”) who was Executive Vice President of the NCEDC from in or about 2016 to in or about April 2017 and Deputy Mayor for Economic Development for the City of Newark"

And at that event, Ramos extolled the virtues of his dear Carmelo, to reporter John Heinis of Hudson County View.
Once a rat always a rat.
ReplyDeleteThe HHA would have had millions to renovate/upgrade the housing stock if Carmelo hadn't wasted it handing out no-bid contracts. To add insult to injury, he sued the HHA for firing him for his incompetence and greed, and he got $750,000 from the HHA, money that could have been used to upgrade housing of people that really needed help. I wish voters could see the Three Amigos for who they really are.
