DeFusco caught socializing in Hoboken (without a mask!) DURING Monday's budget meeting

Looking for a ward Councilman who does as little work as possible and pays other people to do the little work he actually does?

Then First Ward  Councilman Mike DeFusco is your man.

For a guy who whines as much about the mayor's alleged spendthrift ways, DeFusco shows amazing disinterest in our city's $118M proposed budget.  I suppose he 's got 'people' watching meetings for him, writing pithy lines for him to deliver at tonight's council meeting. 

Snap! Snap! Snap!

But really, there is no excuse for blowing off such a critical public meeting.  It is reasonable that Council persons may be out-of-town for periods during the summer.  But, paid public servant Mike DeFusco was in town.

And Hoboken is a small city. So when the First Ward Councilman blows off an important special meeting to socialize on the streets of Hoboken there are eyes everywhere to catch him.  As noted, some council members were legitimately away on vacation.  Where was Mike DeFusco?

An eyewitness sent me this account:

"I thought you might be interested to know that I saw council member DeFusco walking maskless at 8 PM last night on 11th St. between Washington and Bloomfield. He was not wearing a mask at all, not even one around his neck, and I’m sure of this because he was wearing a tank top. The council member appeared to me [redacted] because he was explaining politics to his companion, with no regard to the risk posed to other people near him on a busy sidewalk because of his loud talking and potential to expel droplets. When I mentioned this to [redacted] she checked to confirm that the city council’s special meeting on the budget was still ongoing at that time."

I want you all to remember that tonight when the First Ward Councilman goes off on one of his squeaky tirades, excoriating the mayor over the budget.  Is he really that interested? (No.)
