Sung to the tune of Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones:
Oh, his tweet is threat'ning
My very life today
If I don't get some credit
Oh yeah, I'm gonna fade away
kudos...credit... it's just a tweet away
It's just a tweet away
kudos... credit, it's just a tweet away
It's just a tweet away
Ooh, see corona sweepin'
Our very street today
Killin' Mile Square seniors
Mad virus on its way
Gimme credit!
It's just a tweet away
It's just a tweet away
Gimme credit yeah!
It's just a tweet away
It's just a tweet away, yea
His tweet is threat'ning
My very life today
Gimme, gimme credit
Or… I'm gonna fade away
For those who find this amusing: don't worry. This councilwoman is ineducable- she'll be back!
I'm sure it's frustrating for folks like Fisher, Ramos and DeFusco but Ravi is mayor right now and they are not. During a crisis the difference in stature between the Mayor and Council people, always substantial, is magnified and that means the mayor will get more credit than he deserves for things people like and more blame than he deserves for things that go wrong. If he follows Fisher's advice and things go wrong he will be blamed, not her. Likewise, if things go right he will get the credit. That is the benefit and cost of leadership in a crisis, and deservedly so because whoever came up with the idea, he is the decision-maker who chooses which ideas to implement and which to ignore.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to accept the role of supporting cast to a leader you despise and want to replace, but that is the only role available to council people right now, a fact that every councilperson except Fisher seems to understand.
Fisher, the political wind-sock, Giattino, her human feather flag friend, and DeFiasco, the vacuous bobblehead, never stop campaigning long enough to do their jobs. Their outsized egos are in inverse proportion to their intelligence.
