Hoboken leading with its head

What is it about crisis that exposes the character of our leaders?

It seemed to annoy NJ Governor Phil Murphy that Hoboken's mayor got ahead of the state to initiate Draconian measures like self-isolation and closure of non-essential businesses.   Four days later, Murphy issued a statewide directive to self-isolate and close non-essential businesses "that will supersede all previous county and municipal memorandums related to curtailing the spread of COVID-19."

No one should be jockeying for cred at a time like this. All the public cares about is that our government is putting our health and safety first, telling us the truth, and keeping us informed.  And if there's room for innovation, that too.

Hoboken's COVID-19 mitigation policy is based on science and inconvenient truths. Hoboken has kept residents informed with daily advisories, and laid out our hospital's desperate circumstances like a gauntlet for more powerful leaders to pick up.

People, it is going to get worse.  More of us will get sick.  I am personally comforted that our Mayor, his staff, OEM, CERT and our Council members are working together in one of the biggest challenges to ever face this city.    I am personally  comforted that our Mayor is highly competent, caring and leads with his head.

Like I said, what is it about crisis that exposes the character of our leaders?
