People, there is a reason why this ordinance was withheld from public scrutiny (omitted from the Agenda packet)- it was released to council members hours before last night's meeting.
IT SUCKS!
IT SUCKS!
GA has obtained Councilman DeFusco's original draft copy (below). Yikes. Not only does it codify liability for bar crawls on to the City of Hoboken, the ordinance incentivizes event promoters and bars to participate in lucrative bar crawls. DeFusco puts no limits on the number of permits issued, when they can be used, makes them affordable. If this passes, Hoboken has codified an unlimited number of bar crawl events for an unlimited number of participating venues for a nominal cost. Whose wallets get hit when Hoboken sanctions bar-crawls? Hoboken taxpayers.
Ugh. Can you imagine? Hoboken will 'host' one bar-crawl after another.
EXCLUSIVE:
DeFUSCO's BAR-CRAWL ORDINANCE
Last night the Hoboken City Council passed this on First Reading. The vote was 5-4.
"NO" votes were: Jim Doyle, Jen Giattino, Emily Jabbour and Phil Cohen.
Another half baked idea from a half wit. If this passes, I hope he slips in the rivers of hot sick that flow at every con event.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who voted for this is an asshole and is to blame for every pile of vomit we find on our sidewalks that shows up b/c of this stupidity.
ReplyDeleteThe city should itemize all costs associated w/ these bar crawls and specifically break them out at city council meetings until these asswipes are shamed into reigning them in.
I would also suggest that health inspections be scheduled for any day a bar crawl is scheduled at all participating establishments.
stopthisordinance
ReplyDeleteUnintended consequences. If the City issues permits for these events they then take on the liability for them.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest liability Hoboken has is DeFusco. What third-rate councilman in a small city needs as much paid support to do a job he sucks at, when he bothers to show up at all?
