Congratulations, Freeholder Soares!
And congratulations to all six ward council members who were sworn in yesterday- either in person by Hoboken City Clerk Jimmy Farina...
Newly sworn in Councilpersons Ramos, Giattino and Fisher |
Or else, remotely by Farina...
COUNCILMAN Cohen looking dead serious, surrounded by proud family members |
But people, don't let the fact that a private swearing in took place yesterday stop you from attending tonight's PUBLIC swearing in at 7PM in City Hall. More news...
COUNCIL RE-ORG POISED TO MAKE HISTORY
If the buzz is correct... and I hope it is....
GA is thrilled that the Hoboken City Council will nominate its first African-American for a leadership slot!
And (not sure this is a first..) both Council leadership positions will be estrogen-engorged! Ladies, how often does that happen? Almost NEVER!
GA's TWO CENTS
Listen, I think the level of vitriol between 2019 political factions is unsustainable in 2020. That is the truth. Everybody's sick of it. (At least wait until the next election.) GA is optimistic that if folks put their rhetorical weapons down, work FOR good legislation and public policy and not AGAINST one another, make RESPONSIBLE municipal board appointments and not give them away like door prizes to political cronies, we will be a stronger, more unified Hoboken. Is that too much to ask for?
So, best wishes new Council people and new municipal board members... with extra hugs to first-time COUNCILMAN Cohen!
Jersey City Council just appointed its first African American Council President Joyce Watterman.
ReplyDeleteHi GA! Thanks for that memory! It was fun to win. Sad to lose, but content knowing a loss to Cammarano and a loss to Campos on my scorecard isn't so bad. In fact it's a badge of honor losing to ex-cons...
ReplyDeleteYou betcha, Freeholder!
DeleteYou do realize that those folks who only care about themselves will continue to sabotage the mayor at every opportunity. They have no shame and care nothing about anything but their own political aspirations.

ReplyDeleteGiattino held on to Pres. Fallco got VP.
Hope Councilwoman Falco finds her own voice.
DeleteShe's too busy trying to find herself ANOTHER affordable apartment for herself... She doesn't like the 12 year old building she's in...Maybe she should jump a list at Church Towers?
DeleteCongrats to Phil and his family. Glad to see his and Rebecca's family have some good news after losing both their fathers last month.
ReplyDeleteIt was great to see Phil in full swing last night on the crucial matter of the time slippage on Rebuild by Design, while Jen, Mike & Tiff just uttered meaningless nothings, because they know nothing about this project. Their constituents are so fucked, as is the rest of Hoboken, if they continue to vote as a bloc.
