SNEAK PEEK: Council re-org 2020

Congratulations to Phil and his proud family!

FILL IN THE BLANKS
Have you folks enjoyed your holidays?

Well, for anyone who's interested,  the Hoboken City Council will hold its first regular meeting of the new year on January 2, 2020.  As always, the Council will make municipal board appointments and appoint its new leadership.

On the list: the Council representative to the Hoboken Planning Board.  2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher currently holds that slot- who will the appointment go to? Note, At-Large Councilman Jim Doyle is already serving as the Mayor's Appointee to the Planning Board.

Next, three appointments to the Hoboken Zoning Board of Adjustment: (1) full seat and (3) Alternates. The full seat nominee is John Branciforte, the Alternates are Nicola Maganuco (1st), Steve Firestone (2nd) and Carol Marsh (3rd).   No surprise to see those three, experienced ZBA veterans were re-appointed.  I do wonder why newcomer Maganuco bumped the very experienced incumbents Firestone and Marsh?

Lastly, the Council will appoint a representative to sit on the Hoboken University Municipal Hospital board.  With the pending hospital sale to RWJ Barnabas, this board seat should not go to a crony  (like when Ruben slipped in his pal Eduardo), but someone prepared to represent the Council's interests during the sale.

Oh yeah, two more: Council President and Vice.

Let's just say, word is that some folks are open to olive branches, peace pipes, and others less so.   I for one hope folks will put their grievances in the rear view mirror and govern accordingly.  Since 2017, Hoboken politics has to me, resembled a high school lunch room- and not a progressive  lunchroom.

So here you go, people:

  1. Ramos and DeFusco seem to be trying to add to their boy Macanuco almost non-existent resume, perhaps setting him up for a place on their ticket in the Council At Large slot when one or both make another attempt to become mayor next year. Have wonder if they already sold him to their real estate developer "friends" as their "friend" too ?

    1. Maganuco has been out there saying he was getting on the zoning board since just after the election. That was probably the chooch's concession prize for agreeing to play the part of a spoiler.

Palms greased, skids greased, and Hoboken loses once again.

    2. The guy is a complete idiot. I wouldn't put him on the tree commission - a place where he could do no harm. Why would anyone put him on the zoning board - a place where he could do a ton of harm? SMH

    3. Peter Cammarano knew the value of being able to control the votes on the ZBA.

    4. So he is a useful idiot? Got it. The man is still a complete idiot. Why do so many idiots insist on getting involved in politics? We really don't need more idiots in politics.
