Earwitness News: the story behind that political signage ordinance

Slow news day, people.  So why not share this recent bit of wax from a Q-Tipster?

You know that GA found that "political signage that never comes down" ordinance ridiculous, obnoxious, and the stuff of dictatorships.  Well, a few days ago, I was Q-tipped off to the backstory; exactly how it came about.  And it's every bit as ridiculous as you might have expected.  Here it is:

That political signage ordinance was DeFusco's knee-jerk reaction to an email from City Hall. The email went out to all of the candidates, not just him about a week-and-a-half after the election.  The City's email reminded candidates that any remaining banners needed to be removed. Apparently all the candidates responded professionally- except for you know who.  I heard that other candidates  replied they thought they'd gotten them all, but to please let them know if any were missed and they'd make sure to take them down. Not Mike DeFusco. He immediately  directed Corporation Counsel to draft the ordinance removing the time restriction!  Oh, and all the candidates cleaned up nicely after themselves except DeFusco who made the City pick up his waste.  Of course he has no capacity to understand the code provision applies to every political candidate- like Trump 2020 banners.

Wait, Michael DeFusco is too special to pick up his campaign dreck?  Instead, he tried to change the law to escape cleaning up after himself???  Then after being notified to pick up his crap, he let it blow around and molder on city sidewalks for somebody else to pick up?

What a lazy, arrogant slob!  That's my opinion.

  1. MDF being MDF He is petty and vindictive and is constantly triggered from a self manufactured position of being the constant victim.

    1. Like his namesake, medium density fiberboard, known as "MDF", DeFusco - 0r "FUSSco" as Farina calls him, is dimensionally unstable.

    2. Hoboken City Clerk James Farina complemented Councilman Cunningham on Wednesday night, his last Council meeting, saying in jest he was "the best dressed Councilman he has ever worked with." MDF in his orange check jacket, green plaid pants and vibrant green and yellow striped tie that night might be triggered enough by that comment to file another complaint.

    3. Did MDF think he was auditioning for the circus? Sounds like he dressed like a clown.

  2. Considering all the illegal banners bars, running clubs and the museum hangs on the railings by the Path Station (WITH NO PERMISSION or PERMITS ) I find it interesting that political signs were top of the Zoning officer's list of things to go after? Maybe since our Zoning officer is hyper political and ran for Democratic committee and appears in endorsements, I'd say deFusco is wrong to react like a little brat, but the zoning officer is also being passive aggressive and vindictive . The Zoning officer is too political- that office should be non political.

    2. Blaming the zoning officer for doing her job and giving the same notice to ALL the candidates is a pretty pathetic defense.

I would say Anon 8:22 is the one being a little passive aggressive and vindictive trying to throw shade on the zoning officer officer.

It seems like the new tactic which we've now seen used several times is to call DeFusco a "brat" while carrying his water.

Its just oh so clever! The mastermind behind this strategy must be a brilliant political strategist!
