  1. Clearly a ringing defeat for Team Ravi and only goes to prove his mayoral victory was weak win. If he really was so liked by the populace at least more than 1 of his 5 endorsed candidates would have won. Good news for GA - she gets four more years to attack Mike who crushed his opponent despite the relentless drivel generated by this site.

    1. I'll disagree with you, pardner. Fisher and Giattino, 1 and 2 term incumbents beat political newbies by a mere 7 points-- not what you'd call a mandate. Neither are strong in their respective wards, they just have name recognition- that's the power of incumbency. As for Mig, I guess if she gave out free hot dogs and had a $110,000 piggy bank stuffed with PAC / Union P2p violations who knows? As for Ruben, we'll see if Candidate 3, 4 or 5 pop up in the next federal VBM bribery complaint...

Now, I suppose you enjoy this "relentless drivel" since you're here, rolling around in your own drivel like a pig in $hit.

    2. It took a while to get rid of Mason, it will take a while to get rid of those two. They are toxic and the longer they are in office, the more they will alienate the voters.

As for Mike, pardon me if I am wrong but he might not be able to afford a cardboard box in Hoboken pretty soon much less an apartment here.

  2. Some perspective here. Dawn’s first City Council slate gained a single seat in 2011. Good government has always been a slog here. The slog continues, now with +1 on the Council.

  3. unfortunately the first ward voted on debate performance and hot dogs, not character.

    1. That debate is like going to a job interview blowing the interview and expecting to get hired.

  5. To quote the famous political strategist Bill Parcells, you are what your record says you are.

To quote the 700lb matriarch of the Catfish clan, if you can’t learn from losing, you’ll never win.

I’m as curious as anyone to understand why the sleaziest won the easiest. And yes I know I’m saying that on day 1 of another 4 years in which all criticism of Defusco will be construed as homophobia by people who view homophobia as a political cudgel rather than the deadly serious cancer that it is.

But right now, I’d leave analysis sit a few days and go out drinking and dancing. This was a watershed. You get a few days off. Enjoy them.

  6. The winner seems to be Mike Russo. He's going to get a lot of asks/exchanges for his votes.
