A beloved member of the Hoboken Family, Bernard Kenny, has lost his beloved son. Unexpectedly and suddenly. There is nothing worse for a parent than the loss of a child. Our hearts break for Bernie and his entire family.
Bernie notified his friends today, and I am blessed to be one. In his own words:
"My beloved son, Bernard, passed away yesterday at the age of 36. He died in his sleep . He lived many years with schizophrenia and other complications. He lived those years with a profound grace and dignity. He did the very best he could with what he had .
Bernard was loving, innocent, and, above all, courageous.
He was a reliable and respectful friend to many and always had a kind word and a smile for those he met in passing. Bernard was a volunteer at the Hoboken soup kitchen every Tuesday and Thursday for the past three years .
I am so proud to treasure him as my forever son and to be his forever father. He was one of those special people who we call a “good soul”. Our true Anam Cara .
May he rest now in eternal peace . May God bless him and keep him.
We are now preparing for
Bernard's Memorial Mass to be held next week. Please remember Bernard by heart-fully accepting those you love."
G-d bless your son's soul. May he rest in peace. The Kenny Family: you are not alone. You have given much to this community and we are here for you at this terrible time.
Love,
Nancy
Whenever I hear this piece I always think, this must be what mercy sounds like. May the Kennys all find it somehow in the difficult days ahead.
