Bring out your dead to VOTE TODAY!!!

Happy Election Day, people!  Whatever you do, make sure to VOTE.

For folks who are undecided, or have not really focused on who your candidates are yet... the following message from Mayor Bhalla provides a synopsis of each candidate with links to their platform.  If you read this blog, you know I am supporting them all. My door speaks for me.

From Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla:

Here is a snapshot of my endorsements for all five candidates.

Cristin Cricco-Powell, 6th Ward
What truly makes Cristin unique is her determination to keep Hoboken special for current and future generations. She has real, concrete and well thought-out plans to lend a hand to our mom and pop shops and limiting the influence of chain stores, keeping Hoboken affordable for those who want to stay here for the long term, and limiting large-scale residential development in areas such as our North End.

Phil Cohen, 5th Ward
Phil’s active engagement in Hoboken’s civic life gives him the breadth of experience and demonstrated commitment to Hoboken that will serve him well on the Council. As a member of the Rebuild by Design Citizen Advisory Committee, for example, Phil has effectively worked to ensure that this essential flood protection project stays on track, so that our city is able to withstand the impacts of the more intense storms predicted by scientists as a result of climate change.

Lisa Sprengle, 4th Ward
As a Councilwoman, Lisa will fight proposed out-of-scale, over-development in the southwest area of Hoboken that will create evenmore traffic congestion. Unlike her opponent, she strongly opposed the attempt by Academy Bus to build a project more than twice the size currently permitted, steadfastly backing the existing low-density Southwest Redevelopment Plan.

Nora Martinez DeBenedetto, 2nd Ward
Nora has taken the lead on advocating for a robust and thorough pedestrian safety campaign for the Second Ward. She has thoughtfully put forward proposals including raised intersections on 15th Street to slow traffic, cost effective traffic calming measures including street art, lowering the speed limit to 20 miles per hour for the entire City, and more.

Migdalia Pagan Milano, 1st Ward
Migdalia works hard every day to solve problems for people. As one of the founders of the reconstituted Office of Constituent services, she has effectively helped hundreds of residents address various life challenges. She is an organizer of Hoboken Pride Week, and a longtime contributor to the City’s cultural activities, enriching the quality of life for all of us.

Above all else, I chose to endorse these five candidates because I know firsthand that they have the honesty, integrity and independent thinking necessary to serve in city government. If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll take a few minutes and read more about their platforms and ideas to move Hoboken forward.

Thank you, as always.
