Migdalia: "Frank Raia's dirty money is STILL funding Mike DeFusco's campaign"

Dear Neighbor,

I’m proud of the campaign we’ve run for the First Ward City Council seat. We have real, grassroots momentum that I know will carry us to the finish line. My campaign is funded through small donations from everyday residents like you, which I’m incredibly proud of.

Unfortunately, it was discovered yesterday, that Mike DeFusco is continuing to receive support from the campaign cash provided to him by convicted felon Frank Raia. THIS is exactly what is wrong with Hoboken politics, and show’s that he’ll do anything to get ahead.

As you may recall, Frank Raia was the mastermind behind the Hoboken voter bribery scandal and was convicted of this very serious felony. Raia gave DeFusco nearly $10,000 in campaign cash, and shared the same campaign manager with DeFusco. After initially refusing to refund Raia’s cash, DeFusco reportedly claimed that he was then donating the money to a charity, the “Hudson County LGBTQ Caucus” which allegedly supports LGBTQ candidates running for public office (although I never received a dime from this group, being an LGBTQ candidate myself).

Just yesterday, this VERY SAME organization that DeFusco donated the Raia cash to, used Raia’s money to send out a campaign mailer on DeFusco’s behalf! It’s clear that DeFusco funneled this cash to this group as a workaround so he could benefit from what he claimed was a charitable donation.

This is everything that’s wrong with Hoboken politics. DeFusco has done everything and anything he can to distract from the Raia scandal and his connection to it. I’m running for office because we can’t let Hoboken be overrun by dishonest politicians like Mike DeFusco. I hope you’ll take a look at my ideas for moving Hoboken forward on my website, http://www.migdaliaforhoboken.com

Thank you,

Migdalia Pagan Milano
Candidate, First Ward City Council

  1. I have had a very low opinion of MDF's ethics so I am not surprised.

  2. MDF's comrades Jen Giattino and Tiffanie Fisher must be very proud. All three write checks to Vision Media.

  5. Mike Defusco has succeeded yet again in making LGBTQ political participation look like nothing more than dirty tricks and personal favors.

    1. If the Hudson County LGBTQ Caucus were legit, which it isn't, they'd have more than two members.

Migdalia should be part of it as the only openly gay candidate to run for office in Hudson County. (DeFuckup wasn't out of the closet before he got elected).

No, as it stands, it's clear this "caucus" is nothing more than a money-laundering organization for DeFuckup, so he can have Raia's ill-gotten gains flow through yet another channel.

  6. DeFusco and his supporters are trying to throw shade on Migdalia, while ignoring his Raia contributions, his own "dark" PAC money, his ELEC law violations, and his refusal to comply with pay to play.

Like the material his initials represent MDF = medium density fiberboard, he lacks structural integrity, dimensional stability, is comprised of scraps AKA garbage, that would otherwise be useless, is bound together by toxic adhesives, swells like a sponge like his ego, must have a veneer of some sort, is used commonly for the cheapest creations, can't be nailed but can be screwed, which is what his handlers will do to him when he doesn't win or perform for them.

    1. What has Migdalia done that didn't involve her paid gig at City Hall?
Marking the Arts & Music festival booths with chalk on the curbs is not a community effort. She hasn't done squat until she decided to run

    3. Anon @10:14, the comparison should be the civic record of Migdalia before running for office vs. DeFusco's record before he was appointed to the ZBA.

Unlike DeFusco, Migdalia who is from Hoboken, and didn't just show up here to carpet bag like Mikey, was already heavily involved in the community, and had the cojones to be out long before running for office, unlike Mikey, who didn't come out of the closet until after he was safely elected.

Mikey and his running mates have no positive record, which is why they have to sling mud, make shit up, and why they so desperately needed the runoff elections back, especially since their rain-maker, the king of vote-buying is out of the game.

What DeFusco does have to show are a lot of high-cost renderings (whose expense is not revealed on his ELEC reports) for half-baked ideas that he never vetted with the proper entities to find out their plausibility, as well as taking credit for things he didn't accomplish, like WiFi on the PATH platforms.

He claims to be such a champion of Hoboken's history, and yet the first ward so more demolitions of historic structures than at any time in the recent past. Two more are threatened, the Records Building and the Hoboken Land and Improvement Company building, and he has yet to say squat in their defense. Wonder why? Look at his donors - at least the ones he reveals.

He's a tool of the County bosses, and we can't wait to be rid of him and his endless council meeting whinings, in that tinny tenor of his, when he bothers to show up at all.

The first ward deserves better than his best, which wouldn't be hard to do.

    1. Only to the extent that it creates a talking point for the agenda-driven. She can neither coordinate with them nor make the go away. But the ads I’ve seen are incredibly soft content-wise.
