Disin-JEN-uous email: "donut holes" aren't even open space

ACCOUNTABILITY
Have you ever seen such a frenzied response to (3) factual statements on an opponent's campaign email? Apoplectic denials on Facebook, calling their opponents "liars" and worse.

Looks like Cristin and Nora touched a nerve.  It was bound to happen.

It's called accountability.  Tiffanie Fisher and Jen Giattino have to face the music, after a 2 year council partnership with pro-development, pay-to-players and VBM harvesters, Ruben Ramos and Michael DeFusco.  Now they have a record.

Which they won't defend- that would be embarrassing. Better to accuse their opponents of lying. Unfortunately (for them) public record tells the truth.

FISHER AND GIATTINO VOTED AGAINST THE OPEN SPACE "DONUT HOLE" IN FAVOR OF DEVELOPER PROFITS
That includes their "YES" vote for Ordinance B-40 AFTER the Hoboken Planning Board opposed it by resolution because it was "substantially non-compliant" with Hoboken's Master Plan recommendation to preserve and protect interior open space ("donut hole"). Ordinance B-40 granted larger building footprints (increased developer profits) at the expense of the open space in the Hoboken "donut hole."    Here is the vote:

The vote on B-40 illustrates whose side each Councilperson was on: the residents (and Hoboken Master Plan) or the developers.  It is that simple.  And if you want to know how Giattino REALLY feels about preserving the Hoboken donut hole, here is what her email said:

"They are hoping that Hoboken voters aren't smart enough to figure out that "donut holes," the land in the middle of each developed block, isn't even open space - it's people's private back yards."
-Jen Giattino press release, October 27, 2019

That is a stunning admission. Giattino has said that your backyard, my backyard, you neighbor's, the 'hole' at the interior of every residential block is not open space.

Hoboken voters are smart enough to know that when their leg is getting peed on, it's not raining. Look no further than NJ Municipal Land Use Law's definition for "open space":
.
"Open Space: Any parcel or area of land or water essentially unimproved and set aside, dedicated, designated or reserved for public or private use or enjoyment or for the use and enjoyment of owners and occupants of land adjoining or neighboring such open space.'"

And what does Hoboken's 2018 Master Plan's re-examination report say about the "donut hole."

"Preserve the interior “donut hole” in residential blocks. For new development, infill, and building additions on residential blocks, require that building setbacks, lot coverage and rear yard requirements are met so that the interior open space within a residential block (the “donut hole”) is preserved."
-Hoboken Master Plan Re-examination report, adopted June 2018

IN HER OWN WORDS
Giattino has confessed her indifference toward your block interior's open space called the "donut hole" and ignorance of what Open Space means.  Someone who cares about protecting open space knows what it is

And yes, it is a FAIR campaign issue. Resorting to insults and reckless accusations against your opponent (none have violated local "Pay-to-Play laws) is not a good look.

Meanwhile, anybody else beside me shocked by Giattino's indifference toward what little open space you call your own?

GA's OPEN SPACE: Do not f*ck with my donut hole

Yeah, Giattino the Politician has changed.
