Who "anointed" who?

"...many have asked, “who will run to fill your seat?”  As indicated in my announcement, I was not “anointing” a successor...."
-Peter Cunningham Endorsement

Not "anointing" your successor?  Sure you were, Peter.  Of course, the word "anoint" is snark but since you chose it, I'll keep going.

You "anointed" Tim CrowellSo what?  Why shouldn't you "anoint" a person whom you trust will best represent the ward you've served and love; someone you feel will best carry on your policy views.

What's wrong with that

That was my question in 2017: who was going to replace Jen on the council if she won the mayoral. Yes, I asked the question and the reply I got was, "Don't worry, we'll find someone good."

I expected no less. Since the councilwoman did not want to finish her term, then  one would assume she wouldn't leave the 6th ward high-and-dry, that she'd find someone like-minded, someone equally capable.  After all, the 6th ward dodged a bullet named Carmelo Garcia in 2015. Surely, a councilwoman who purported to care about her ward would not walk away without "anointing" a successor.

I never heard who that was.

So let's keep it real.

Had Dawn Zimmer "anointed" Jen Giattino in 2017 and not Ravi Bhalla, the "Reform Resistance" crowd would be doing cartwheels and somersaults.  The real problem wasn't that Zimmer endorsed the person whom she trusted most with her legacy projects like RBD and the Southwest Park. The problem was who she endorsed.

5th ward residents who like and respect Peter Cunningham's judgment and his performance should be pleased that he has "anointed" a candidate to carry on where he left off.   Like Zimmer did.

No one is entitled to our vote, every ward candidate has to earn it.  GA hears Tim Crowell is a great guy, though I don't agree with his attacks on Phil Cohen (where is that coming from?) Nicola Maganuco seems like a nice guy, running positive. So is Phil.

May the best candidate win.

  1. Well this confirms his bitterness and hypocrisy know no bounds.

  2. For whatever reason, and it serves no purpose to delve into it too deeply, this is a precious distinction to them. Zimmer annointed, but Cunningham endorsed. Thing 2 even called this article a "melt down" despite the "let's get real" conversational tone, the lack of negative comment about the annointee/endorsee, and the fact that it ends with "may the best candidate win." Which is also why it serves no purpose to try to understand the great wound these folks have dragged around since 2017 like a partially severed limb. It's their thing now.

    1. This great "wound" they have suffered from has been festering a long time and likely will infect any candidate associated with this tainted crowd. Anyone they endorse should be treated with a high degree of suspicion.

  3. Next you'll be saying the Witch Hunt against me is the same as the Impeachment of Crooked Hillary's husband! Let's remember that this whole smear job depends on a transcript from the #Failing Verizon Phone Company!

    1. Hey HH, I hear you're in deep shit! Hoboken's RR cult has nothing on the GOP. Talk about brainwashed... it's about time for an impeachment intervention! #PelosiRocks #HindsightIs2020 #LockHimUp

  4. I would vote for Phil Cohen. Call me crazy but his website has calming blue type accented with a soothing umber, signifying that he is just what Hoboken City Council needs now. That and I never heard of the other two guys.

    1. LOL. The kiss of death crazy Mary O endorsement on Hudson County View. That was pure unintentional comedy gold. Peter's "anointment" masquerading as an "endorsement" was an epic example of passive aggressive behavior. Why did he not have the balls to simply say that he thinks that Phil is a piece of shit? If he thinks that this will burnish his legacy as a reformer, me thinks that he is out of touch. By sliming Phil (and throwing the other guy under the bus) he painted his anointee withe the stench of the RR venom and bile. He essentially made him a stand in for the Tiff and Jen ("I never saw an ELEC violation in my life - oh you mean that little discretion?") brand of opportunistic reform resistant politics. I guess we will now see a new member of the Swibinskk/dung filled barn press operation.

    2. Hairy Mary and Cheryl Fallacy are the reasons most people won't attend council meetings. When their supporters are voted out of office, will they stop attending, or get worse? Between them and Patty Waiters' incoherent word salads, your ears bleed if you're in the room.

  5. Is anyone surprised by Mr. Howell's double standard? Can't wait for Peter to be irrelevant. 3 months to go!
