Gov. Murphy appoints new Hoboken Housing Authority Commissioner!

Congratulations to an outstanding choice to serve on Hoboken's Housing Authority!

Erica Seitzman will be filling the "Governor's Appointment" seat, which has been vacant since Commissioner Judith Burrell's 5-year term expired on April 15, 2016.

Folks may recall that on his way out of office, Governor Chris Christie appointed former Hoboken Councilwoman Beth Mason to fill that seat.  However in his haste, Christie failed to follow proper procedure; the appointment should have made through the Department of Community Affairs. Instead, Christie's office notified Mason directly by letter. Though the former Second Ward Councilwoman tried to claim the board seat-- she even had Hoboken's City Clerk swear her in-- HHA's Corporation Counsel would not allow her to be seated, saying the appointment was not valid.

This one sure is. And Ms. Seitzman, a teacher at United Synagogue of Hoboken and community volunteer, has the requisite kindness, compassion and desire to work hard for the residents of the HHA, with her fellow Board members. Good luck to her!

  2. Seitzman in da House! Well deserved and perfect choice - velvet glove and iron hand just where it is needed! It's one of those days where hope springs anew and you start to believe that someone up there in government (finally) gets it. Bring it Ms Seitzman! Karma's got your back!
