UPDATE: "Calicchio sentencing may be adjourned"

GA has heard from folks today- including my source in-the-know (the "drip" guy)- that the September 12 schedule for Matt Calicchio's sentencing is wrong.

I just checked the NJ District Court database again on PACER-- it still shows the Calicchio sentencing scheduled for September 12- but, I trust my sources over the accuracy of the court's online record-keeping.  So, stay tuned for an updated status on Calicchio's sentencing.

FYI, this is what PACER is showing currently:

Time flies, don't it?  Sentencing seemed distant when those guilty pleas started rolling in...

Well, here we are. GA checked the sentencing status of those Defendants.... if the court's calendar holds, Dio Braxton and Matt Calicchio face the music before Judge William Martini next week.

U.S. DISTRICT COURT OF NEW JERSEY: DOCKET REPORT

It is interesting to note that while Lizaida Camis was the first of the three to plead guilty, her sentencing has been rescheduled twice. Does this relate to rumor that Camis has been spilling details about the inner-workings of the 4th Ward's vote-by-mail bribery operation, that she continues to provide federal investigators with a wealth of information?

The other Defendant, Matt Calicchio, a Raia prosecution witness, is also cooperating with the Feds. It's rumored that he and witness Mike Holmes, who got an immunity deal, will be back for the next round of trials, and the next, if and when those happen.  In the meantime, Matt is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday, September 12.

As for Dio Braxton, he is not cooperating.  Braxton is loyal to Raia, and his refusal to turn will likely be reflected in his sentence on Tuesday, September 10. We shall see.

A deadline to watch: September 6, 2019.  That signals the beginning of the 60-day blackout period before an election during which a candidate cannot be indicted.

Stay tuned.

  1. The whole Pupie thing is not over. BTW Peter Cammarano was indicted days after he was sworn in as Mayor. The City Council would get to appoint an interim replacement for a Ward Councilperson that was unable to continue to serve, making the make up of the Council even more important.
