GA is not a Twitter-fan (it blows except for trolling @realDonaldTrump) but I accept that others are. Some Hoboken friends are constantly on it and send me screen shots of what may be interesting or controversial.
Today I got this beauty.
Other than a pedestrian sort of libel, it got my attention. That's because this Twitter persona, @BadHoboken, has developed a following of 400+ with exponential outreach via social media sharing. And you know, GA loves the democratization of speech; any jerk with a computer--myself included-- can be an advocate for and against matters of public interest and public concern... and if our content is compelling, people will listen.
How great is that?
How great is that?
What's not so great is publishing a false and defamatory allegation that a city employee has taken a bribe.
In this case, gratuitously libeling a City Hall employee stands in stark contradiction to the presumed good faith of one who documents bad e-scooter behavior. As a (very) close observer of Hoboken's political factionalism and dirty tricks, this raises red flags.

Jason Freeman and John Allen are this generation's Dark Side council whipping boys. In the Beth Mason era, the council pinatas were named Juan Melli and Dan Bryan. Different day, same shit.
Really. So, why's a documentarian of bad scooter behavior shivving Hoboken's Assistant B.A., formerly Mayor Bhalla's Deputy Chief of Staff? Something odoriferous seems to be wafting from Twitter.
And this is the second time someone sent me a Tweet from him/her/them. The other one misidentified Bike Hoboken's Peter Kim in a video taken from the rear, based on the fact that the person riding on the sidewalk was on a folding bike. It wasn't Peter. Misidentifying someone in a video may be sloppy, but it's not criminal. Accusing a City official of a taking bribes (a crime) is actionable.
Whoever you are, get your shit together. Twitter won't have your back. They'll cough you up like a cat with a hairball.
Who's the idiot who liked that tweet?
ReplyDeleteIt is insane, kids in cages, families split apart, lives ruined, oh wait that twitter account is documenting the evils of scooters....oh, ok....thank goodness everyone will survive -the scooters that is...
ReplyDeleteThe twatter that sent that tweet is an idiot.
ReplyDeleteIt is very clear that this Twitter account is one of Tiffanie’s henchmen (or horseman) or Tiffanie herself. Both of them have the time to wander Hoboken during the day, both of them are creepy enough take videos of children without anyone’s permission, and they are insane enough to make up conspiracy theories against people that work in City Hall.
ReplyDeleteHey Tiff, did big Phil Swibinski tell you to tweet that, or was it your mop boy, Roman??
