The 8 Second-Man

Ladies, when a guy has to boast about how big it is.... well, you know.

The same principle applies to blogging and to bloggers.   If your blog isn't dead as a doornail, then you don't have to crow about hitting 8-figure traffic (minus proof it's true.) Right?

So today one local Trumper's cyber-rag posted a suspiciously- cropped "screenshot" of alleged traffic stats beneath a headline crowing about hitting an 8-figure traffic milestone.

Just to keep it real--  'cause GA speaks truth to horse sh*t--there is publicly available web traffic data for this very  cyber-rag. And wouldn't you know, publicly available webtracking data contradicts the cyber-strutting over at the glue-factory.  The shocking statistics below are provided by highly respected web tracker, Alexa.

Alexa tells us that this cyber-tabloid  gets  1.0 page-views per visitor, and the average visit lasts 8.0 seconds Click on the link to see for yourself.... it's true!

8 SECONDS!

More horrific...

The boastful cyber-tabloid's "bounce" is a devastating 100%. ("Bounce" means visitors are exiting from where they entered like they're fleeing a sh*t-filled barn on fire!)

YIKES. So really, what these tell us are that numbers mean nothing.  The visitors to that blog blow in an out without reading it, escaping through the same cyber-door they entered.

For comparison, this humble, little blog will post a screen shot of comparable stats: page-views per visit, daily time on site and bounce.

MORAL OF THE STORY
When a blogger has to boast about how big it is (his traffic), chances are that his page-views could fit on the head of a teeny- tiny cocktail weenie.

GA page views per session: 2.55 pages
HORSEshitville:  1 page

GA Time on site per session: 3.13 minutes
 HORSEshitville8 seconds

GA bounce: 39.09%
HORSEshitville :100%

  1. Another key piece of data:

Roman's Trash Site: 21 Sites linking back to horsesh*t's site from elsewhere
Grafixanger.blogspot.com: 4 Sites linking back to this site from elsewhere

Analysis: Roman posts his website by leaving horsesh*t URL's on more popular / high readership sites. Those readers click his link and take on average, around 8 seconds to determine the worth of his content. Closes website, breathes a collective sigh of relief that they didn't download malware and learns a valuable lesson.

    1. Good analysis. He drops his links everywhere like horse turds. You know this site isn't monetized so it doesn't matter to me how much traffic I get, honestly. People who follow Hoboken politics or find it entertaining visit. Sometimes trolls. Well, glad to know that people read my drivel and come back for an average of 3.69 sessions!

    2. You don't have to drop your URL everywhere you go like horsesh*t does AND people not only stick around but come back for more here. That alone speaks volumes.

  2. Perry K never used to delete registrants even if he blocked you from posting. I always thought he did it to juice ad rates. Does the same go for big traffic numbers?

  3. Alexa data? Really? That's dumber than counting "hits".

    1. Tell that to your equine pal- he posted his ALEXA link on HCV (to boast about his traffic relative to mine). I got his ALEXA link from him. Ironic, no?

  4. There is a reason he posts elsewhere to drive traffic to his site. His site is dead. Of course, he himself pretty much is the one responsible driving away all his readers and visitors. Not sure that he has quite figured that last part out though I am sure he understands his site is dead.

  6. Closing in on another YUGE milestone on the corporate website:

The 10th comment of the year that wasn't written by the website administrator.

Just 3 more to go! Exciting times!

    1. Ha ha! Boy, I struck a nerve. The 8-Second Man is on a tear over on the Bouncy Blog! I have proven my point. Very insecure because the 8-Second man knows the TRUTH. I am grateful that folks who visit are reading, not fleeing for dear life 8 seconds later.

The 8-Second Man doth protest too much! Bouncy, bouncy!

    2. He probably got more hits yesterday after you posted this analysis of his crap readership than he got all of last month.

    3. Woo-hoo! Another 5 comments on the corporate website!

We’re still holding at 7 that were not written by the blog administrator, but that could change any month now! Who knows - this could even be the year when we get a comment from a registered user!

More good news! It looks like being branded a racist in the International Media has really upped our global numbers!

    4. Roman aka 8-Second Man,... this is might be too much for his fragile ego LOL

What's a narcissistic ego maniac supposed to do now?

  7. Lol... an 8 second man should charge advertisers 8 cents or less.

  8. So his website ranks 13,000,000 spots higher than yours in global internet engagement, or am I reading that incorrectly?

    1. Think about what you just said, EddyE re: "global engagement."

Hoboken 1 of 566 municipalities in the State of New Jersey. This blog exclusively covers Hoboken politics. Who give a shit about "global engagement?" Does the globe vote in Hoboken? No, but my readers do. My traffic is almost exclusively local- people who vote. Roman Brice is an idiot shouting at clouds. I know who my audience is, and unlike Brice they don't stick around for 8 seconds. They read and then they come back again and again. Like you!

Roman has always been jealous of this site. It's hilarious... I have him jumping around like a marionette on speed!

    2. I do. I enjoy reading all perspectives on Hoboken and HudCo politics, including yours, Romans, and Johns.
