Holy SPLIT-ATOM!
5th ward candidate Perry Belfiore has unleashed black rain over Hoboken!
You see, on Friday, that silky-haired scoundrel pulled petitions to run against Phil Cohen in the 5th ward. And, The Hair Apparent himself told GA that he'd spoken to Ruben Ramos on Wednesday about his plans to run. Then- what a coincidence! The very next day (Thursday), Ramos' running mate, Jen Giattino, scurried downtown to pull petitions for the 5th ward (and the 1st and 4th! )
Let's recap:
Friday, July 12: Peter Cunningham announces he's not seeking re-election.
Wednesday, July 17: Perry Belfiore speaks to Ruben Ramos about running for the 5th Ward seat.
Thursday, July 18: Jen Giattino picks up petitions for the 5th Ward, and Ruben's and DeFusco's wards.
Friday, July 19: Perry Belfiore pulls petitions to run in the 5th ward.
Well, it seems that Perry B. was hooked up to a lie detector when he told GA that the reason he was running was "to give the people a choice"... KA-BOOM. It's raining silver hair follicles!
My plugged-in, mysterious friend concurs. He dropped by yesterday:
"I'm told Perry is trying to save face in the community because he's [allegedly] ratting on his friends. This is all a game! Also told ya they are having trouble finding a candidate. Perry isn't Jen's candidate and Ruben had him in to cause a run off.. bottomline"
Well, it's not rocket science...
Giattino, playing ball with her Dark Side slate mates, picked up petitions for 1st, 4th and 5th ward candidates (to be announced), while Perry B. hopped in to the 5th Ward race. Giattino, Ramos, DeFusco and Fisher strategy: force run-offs in those wards.
Reform people, did you ever think you'd see a day when so-called Reformers did the bidding of Ruben Ramos, Perry Belfiore and Nick Sacco's PR firm?

Apparently the Reform Resistance doesn't employ a smell test. That's probably for the best.
ReplyDeletePerry is a liability and I doubt DeFusco or Ramos want him in the race. Phil is the frontrunner and he would be wise to continue his nice clean campaign. So far he has been working the hardest.
ReplyDeleteApparently you are wrong. Perry told me himself that he spoke with Ruben on Wednesday. If Ruben didn't want him in there, Perry would not have picked up 5th ward petitions two days later, on Friday. Perry is there as filler, and the Dark Side slate is still looking for a candidate in the 5th, to force run-offs. Jen picked up 5th ward petitions the day after Ruben spoke with Perry (and she picked up petitions for DeFusco and Ramos' wards).
DeleteAs for Phil, why would he change what he is doing now? Phil and the rest of the Bhalla slate are clean as a whistle. No county bosses or developers are pulling their strings.
Perry is not one to trust. He's a blowhard and if DeFusco and Ramos are in on this, they deserve what they get!
