Nora to Tea Building residents: I have zero conflict-of-interest on Monarch, I will represent you

NORA'S LETTER TO TEA BUILDING RESIDENTS

Ward elections run much differently than those for citywide office.  Ward campaigns are hyper-local. So unless you've got Hudson County Boss Nick Sacco's PR machine making noise for you (like Fisher, Giattino, DeFusco and Ramos)--  churning out press releases, trolling Facebook and Hudson County View threads, these campaigns happen quietly, off-the-grid.

But make no mistake, these candidates are working.

And last week, Second Ward Council Candidate Nora DeBenedetto sent the above letter* to every Tea Building resident (*GA enlarged the font; original letter was a single-page).

And this Monday evening, Nora and Mayor Unelectable* canvassed several floors in the Tea Building.

[*Fisher ran a notorious "unelectable" whisper campaign against Sikh candidate Ravi Bhalla in 2017, as reported by witnesses, and heard myself.]

GA hears that the response to Nora was overwhelmingly positive; many expressed unhappiness with Fisher's petty attacks on Mayor Zimmer, her alignment with shady council members, and most of all her inability to represent them on the Monarch issue. That's because Fisher owns Tea Building condos with views directly impacted by the proposal, and has had to recuse herself on all council votes and advocacy for her constituents in her capacity as Councilwoman.

Not Nora. As she put in her letter:

"If I am elected to the City Council, I will be eligible to vote on this matter, as I have zero conflicts of interest. You have my word that, along with protecting Union Dry Dock, preservation of waterfront access is the most important issue that I will fight for. Furthermore, I will work to make the Monarch pier a public park that the Second Ward and the rest of our city deserve."

  2. Don't stop there.

Fisher and Giattino also can't represent their constituents on the subject of vote-buying because they are on a ticket with Ramos and Defusco. They will claim there is no ticket. But why then don't they ever mention the ridiculous street money and VBM hauls of their redacted colleagues.

What ever happened to Fisher's ELEC complaint against Defusco on behalf of Giattino?

Nora and Cristen YOU have to ask these questions. Voters deserve to know what kind of dirty deals their candidates have made. But they won't unless YOU ask.
