Special guests get their covfefe served in GA's Minnie Mouse mug |
Thank you, Third Ward candidate Ron Bautista, for stopping by today for a cup of covfefe and a chat!
You know, Ron was strictly a tea drinker- but there is nothing like a baby in the house to drive a parent to the covfefe. Oh, yeah.
A few things about Ron: he is a passionate, articulate voice on the local issues which are the impetus for his independent Third Ward Council candidacy. He's no Ron-come-lately; he grew up in Hoboken's 4th Ward (see pic.)
Ron's childhood home (white building on the left) |
What are his issues? Ron is a fierce advocate for affordable living in Hoboken; that was the first thing he wanted to discuss. Bautista would like Hoboken to consider creating a Community Land Trust to help working families, senior citizens and young professionals afford home ownership in Hoboken, and wants "better" development in partnership with the City. Equally important to Bautista are safe streets for pedestrians, and addressing the threat of climate change at the local level. Ron's platform is available on his website, Ron Bautista for Hoboken CIty Council.
What about e-scooters?
If Ron were on the council, he would have voted "YES" to put a Public Question on the ballot soliciting public opinion on keeping or canceling the program- as long as it was non-binding. (Which it was. Unfortunately, the current council majority has denied the public a voice and a vote on e-scooters.)
Ron believes that adapting safe infrastructure (designated protected lanes) and collaborating with LIME on safety tools like geo-fencing (remotely controlled speed restrictions) is the way to integrate scooters as a convenient, inexpensive, climate-friendly mode of transportation for Hoboken residents.
POLITICS
Ron likes his day job. He does not have higher aspirations in Hoboken politics. Ron is in it because he is passionate about improving quality of life for residents- especially now, since he's become a dad. If he is elected, he wants new voices from the Hoboken community to get involved, speak up, speak out and advocate at the City Council for good public policy. And...
Bautista does not like the current divisiveness on the City Council.
If he is elected, he hopes to change the current hyper-partisan climate of this current anti-Administration council. Make no mistake, Bautista is nobody's yes-man, and will always keep his eye on the PEOPLE not the GRIFT. But he is not about consolidating political power unto himself, and making transactional alliances with shady characters.

As for grift, Bautista is running a positive, clean, transparent campaign. As mentioned, no shady transactions-- like using personal political gifts at council meetings to change Hoboken law, then burying it in a 3 year-old campaign account. All the above are why he's got my support for the Third Ward City Council.
MEET RON
If you want to meet Ron, his campaign kickoff is next week on July 16, 2019 at The Stewed Cow
400 Adams St, Hoboken from 7pm -9pm.
So far, so good. Pass the covfefe!
He’s got a real shot this time unless the incumbent can somehow convince the authorities that his 200 unopposed-campaign workers were part of a summer jobs program.
ReplyDeleteGood “gets” GA. Ron, Perry, Romano, and whoever contributed to the crazy eight article. It’s nice to have someone talk to real people instead of the voices in their head.
