WPIX News: "Hoboken Celebrates Pride Month"

Yesterday morning was Hoboken's rainbow-flag raising in honor of Pride Month; Hudson County View has the full unedited clip here.  Watch the whole thing, and you cannot help but be moved by the testimonials of married couple Allen Kratz and Paul Somerville, Hoboken's first couple to register as domestic partners in 2004.

And, Hoboken City Hall's celebration of Pride month has attracted local media attention: Patch, Hudson County View, The Hudson Reporter,  hMag, and  WPIX-11.

'Project Rainbow' coordinator Migdalia Pagan-Milano tells WPIX about the reaction of children to the painted streets

It's heartening to see Hoboken covered in the press for something positive; showing the world what the Mile Square is really all about: inclusion, diversity, goodwill toward all folks, whomever they love.

And I say that because unfortunately, recent headlines about our city have highlighted its darker side;  a spate of scandals which have promoted our city as a debauched den of racists.

And that is not who we are.

HOBOKEN NEEDED GOOD PRESS

Yes,  the above global scandals have given the Mile Square a black eye around the world.  But the goodness and fine character of the vast majority in our city will always prevail.  Public sex acts performed in a bar and an unapologetic bigot (and his photoshopper) shame us globally, but that's not who we are. That darkness comes from Hoboken's vermin-infested fringes teeming with miscreants, misanthropes and the Perpetually Angry.

GA's sincere thanks to all the good people who planned and pitched in to show Hoboken in its TRUE LIGHT. 🌈
