The Ramos majority passes "Fire Jason" $85K budget cut

Councilwoman Fisher took the lead on firing Jason Freeman.

Schadenfreude comes from the two German words, schaden and freude, meaning harm and joy.

There is a lot of that oozing up from primordial muck over on Hoboken's Dark Side. It's not every day an elected official can legislate a political enemy out of a job. Which is what Team Ramos did on Wednesday night at the Hoboken City Council.   Hooray!

Last Wednesday, 2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher  and her Team Ramos cohorts, took an ax to the Mayor's staff-- something they tried unsuccessfully by ordinance last December. The ordinance failed because it was ultra vires, meaning "beyond the powers" given to them by law.  Since they could not legislate Freeman out of a job last December, they took the budgetary path: defunding the Mayor's Office out of Freeman's salary.

RAMOS FUNDRAISER: Former Zimmer allies have joined forces with The Shady Bunch council.

Imagine that. The legislative branch of City Government, targeting one employee for annihilation, a young man who works for their political adversary, Ravi Bhalla.  But, like every other bad faith act performed by this vindictive Gang of Five, GA predicts a political price will be paid.

Not for nothing, Giattino's closest political ally got creamed in her 6-1 committee race, losing in a landslide to an off-the-line Reform loyalist.  Outside of their bubble, constituents are perplexed by the behavior of the 2nd, 5th and 6th ward councilpersons, who have allied themselves with Dark Siders Ruben Ramos and (*gasp*) Mike DeFusco.

What impact will firing the hard-working Freeman have on Hoboken residents?

Jason Freeman is on-call for the City of Hoboken 24/7- works his butt off days, evenings and weekends- has been at the scene of fires, every water main break, every emergency that arises in this City no matter what time of the day or night.

That was Jason at BOTH December Marine View Plaza fires, assisting displaced residents, giving them all of the support they needed.  Where was First Ward Councilman Mike DeFusco?

MARINE VIEW PLAZA FIRE

It was Jason Freeman who showed up with Mayor Bhalla at 2 AM for the huge fire at 510-512-514 Observer Highway, on the border of First and Fourth Wards.  Jason helped administer services to displaced residents, including finding them temporary lodging.

Where were the First and Fourth Ward Councilmen during this terrible crisis?

 510-512-514 OBSERVER HIGHWAY FIRE

Jason Freeman was there with the Mayor and John Allen.

So you see, people.  These Council members are more interested in hurting political enemies than serving you. They don't show up in the middle of the night to help.  They don't help coordinate emergencies.  They're asleep when the Mayor, Jason Freeman and John Allen are paiding Hoboken residents.

Yes, Fisher, Ramos, Giattino, Cunningham and DeFusco legislated Jason Freeman out of a critical job for Hoboken residents.  Not because Jason is bad, but because he's good.  Very good.

This Council is furious at the efficiency of this Mayor and his staff,  want to hobble him, want him to fail.  A failing mayor hurts us.  That is what they what: to degrade the Administration's ability to service the public, so an unhappy public votes for them next November.

Which is why next November, we must elect  'regular' community servant that don't give a rat's ass about political payback. Our neighbors- not professional politicians- have stepped up because they care about us.   They don't want the Mayor to fail. They know that hurting the Mayor (like by firing his Deputy COS, Jason Freeman) hurts his Office's ability to serve us.  We can't have this.

It's time for change.

Migdalia Pagan-Milano (1st ward)

Lisa Sprengle (4th ward)

  1. I saw Migdalia at Washington & First Street by the rainbow and introduced myself. From that interaction, it is readily apparent that she is everything that DeFudco is not. Told her that if I lived in the First she would have my vote.

BTW, what in the hell is that fake Democrat Jen doing meddling in the democratic committee? She is an effing die hard Republican. What an opportunist and untrustworthy jerk.

    2. After they are voted out of office they will have plenty of time to reflect on how "being the worst you can be" is not a good mantra to base your political career on.....

  4. They can't even claim that the mayor is wasting money on this position b/c he has done a good job of controlling spending, Jason by all accounts has done a good job and the council can't even articulate why this cut is necessary. Heck, half of them are so financially illiterate that they literally don't understand half the shit they say whenever they talk about anything more complicated than 1+1=2.

It is disgusting, they can't even say w/ a straight face this move wasn't political payback. This is the sort of people we have on the CC - people who only care about getting revenge because the voters rejected them.
