Over the Rainbow (on Washington Street), NO help from DeFusco

Viral facebook post!

What a way to kick off Pride Month in Hoboken!

At 6AM on Saturday morning, "Team Rainbow" assembled at City Hall, with paint rollers, aluminum pans and yes- paint!

'Project Rainbow' was the brainchild of Laura Knittel, Hoboken's volunteer LGBTQ community liaison to the city appointed last Aug. 6.   Migdalia Pagan Milano ("Mig") of the Office of Constituent Affairs took over on the execution of 'Project  Rainbow' with Hoboken's City Engineer  Kimberli Craft.

Team Rainbow spent over 9 hours measuring, taping, painting; hunched over and on their knees, with Hoboken's Finest supporting the effort.  They were done by 3 PM.

And you know what?  #Pride is contagious! Excited passers-by stopped to help with painting, if even for a few minutes. Rachel Hodes and Jason Freeman stopped by and painted for 3 hours! Isn't that nice? Hoboken people are good.  Well, most of us....

Guess who stopped by (for a photo-op,) but didn't lift a finger to help?

First Ward Councilman Mike DeFusco!

Eye-witnesses told GA:

"While he was walking his dog around 8:30AM. He saw them painting and went away. Walked his dog, got his iced tea and came back to take his photo op, that he turned around on social media  to inform everyone that city employees were painting the rainbows. Making it seem as if they were getting paid, which they were not. The only city employees who got paid were three stripers. Everyone else volunteered.  DeFusco introduced his partner to Migdalia but he did not want to shake her hand.  Funny how he had Hudson Pride at his event after bashing them. Wonder if the Board of Hudson Pride knows that?"

They will!

What I want to know is: how did Team Rainbow (minus Mike DeFusco) paint all four crosswalks at the intersection of Newark and Washington streets and stay so clean?

GA passed the intersection yesterday- it really is lovely. I am proud that we live in a city with a progressive administration, one that respects and celebrates diversity!

Thank you, Team Rainbow (minus Mike DeFusco) and City Hall people!

And look who stopped by to do a little painting... the FABULOUS Harmonica Sunbeam!   Yes, Harmonica Sunbeam pitched in to help, unlike a certain First Ward Councilman!

  1. Gorgeous. Btw - Team Perennially Bitter should consider recalibrating their strategy unless they really want to reach out to those 479 likes and 262 shares and tell them why they’re wrong to enjoy it.

    2. Defusco - ugh. He is his usual smarmy, sleazy and self aggrandizing self over on Hudson County view in an interview claiming to be the first openly gay official in Hudson County. https://hudsoncountyview.com/drag-queen-story-hour-returns-to-hoboken-as-part-of-1st-hcdo-lgbtq-caucus-brunch/

NOT! Take a look here. https://www.nj.com/hudson/2012/05/jersey_city_to_swear_in_former.html

He should know better as the self proclaimed poster boy for all things gay in Hudson County. He probably does know better, but, like the Human Orange, he purposefully ignores facts to inflate his own self importance. I hope that the First Ward tosses him to the curb with the stinky garbage. I am so over his tired, raggedy whiny ass.

    3. I hear that the morons on the council (Tiff and Co.) are whining about the payments to the city "stripers". I cant wait for Tiff (or one of the other morons) to take a pen and strike the line item to pay them and refuse to pay for the rainbow croissants. Just like the pizza. These idiots need to go. IMO they have no place holding public office. I wonder if Defusco will join in this ass hattery.

  2. And that boys and girls is the kind of "issue-oriented campaign" we can expect from Team Perennially Bitter.

  3. In November, we need to make sure there's no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow for the incumbent candidates.
