How Russo for Council's 2015 "campaign workers" voted (VBMs vs. machine)

credit: politickernj

This blog has reported (a couple of times now) that 2015's 3rd ward race had an unusually high number of "campaign workers" for an uncontested ward election.

Further, this blog discovered that these 3rd Ward "paid workers" lived almost exclusively in either the 4th or 5th wards, and color-coded Russo for Council's 20-Day post election ELEC list of "campaign workers."

Today, GA has added a new layer of information to the color-coded list: an envelope-symbol to show which "campaign workers"  had requested mail-in ballots, per Hoboken's VBM Report for the November 3, 2015 election.

Interesting results:
  • 82 of  Russo "campaign workers" were 5th ward residents. GA found 71 were on Hoboken's VBM report; 86.5% of  that group of 5th Ward residents requested VBMS.
  • 156 of Russo "campaign workers" were 4th ward residents. GA found 72 of them on Hoboken's VBM report; 46% of that group from the 4th ward requested VBMs.
Feel free to check my results.

  1. Oh, my! What were these clowns thinking? The Feds were already monitoring that election. It almost makes you think that they wanted to get caught. Taunting the Feds is never a good idea, right PR? I heard scuttlebutt that PR thinks he can beat the rap and may be risking a trial because he doesn't think that a jury will ever convict him. He is too old and not in great health and even if there is a conviction he won't do any hard time; he may just have to pay a fine and do some probation. Who really knows what is going on, who is playing who, who is back stabbing others to get off easy, who was already an informant, who may now be an informant, what the Feds really know? One thing is for sure, if there is a trial, it will be a real shit show, with all of the OG cockroaches scurrying around the courtroom.

    1. You're right, who knows what goes on in anyone's head. It makes no sense to me. Raia may not be a sympathetic figure to a jury once the prosecution gets through with him. Prisons accommodate folks with health issues all of the time. It sure will be a shit show. Wish there could be a live feed in that courtroom...

  2. Those numbers make sense. Ramos has always had his own cadre of paid "workers" who vote for him at the polls in every election so it's not surprising that only 1/2 his "workers" voted by mail through Caliccios operation. Gonzales on the other hand has no network of his own, so it makes sense that virtually all his "workers" were delivered to him as part of Caliccios VBM operation.

Since Callicio co-operated, it's likely he told the feds that he bought votes in both the 4th and 5th wards, and that is corroborated by Russo's ELECs.

Yet the feds chose to make reference only to one of the two candidates on whose behalf Caliccio committed his crimes.

That likely means that Caliccio fingered one of the two candidates as the one directing the operation, and the other candidate is cooperating.

Between Ruben and Eduardo, who do you think is more likely to have been actively involved and directing the operation and who do you think is more likely to be co-operation?

Of course this is just my opinion speculating about the roles of public figures based on publicly available information.

If Raia goes to trial, we may learn a bit more soon about who Callicio was buying votes for and who directed him in 2015 when Matt testifies, since Raia's lawyers may see value in demonstrating Caliccio didn't need Raia's direction to buy votes.

  3. Received an email from an email account named "City Council President Ruben Ramos" yesterday, concerning youth basketball, trees and the southwest park.
