First Ward Council Candidate Migdalia Pagan-Milano

The fallout from the Raia trial begins.  This afternoon, the campaign of First Ward candidate Migdalia ("Mig") Pagan-Milano issued the following statement:

Migdalia Pagan Milano Calls on DeFusco to Remove Ryan Yacco from his Council Campaign

Migdalia Pagan Milano, a candidate for Ward 1 Council, today called on Councilman Mike Defusco to remove his campaign manager, political consultant Ryan Yacco from his Council campaign.

Yacco’s and Matt Calicchio’s testimony in the Frank Raia vote buying trial yesterday revealed that Yacco through his firm, Bluewater Operations was at the center of the vote buying scheme, writing more than $15,000 worth of checks to individuals paid $50 each to vote for Raia and against rent control. According to witness testimony, the money was funneled through Yacco’s firm as a way to hide the transactions and avoid campaign finance reporting requirements.

Migdalia Pagan Milano said, “I call on Councilman DeFusco to remove Ryan Yacco from his campaign. Mr. Yacco was at the heart of an illegal vote-buying scheme. We must send a message that this kind of blatant political corruption is no longer tolerated in Hoboken.”

Migdalia Pagan Milano is a lifelong resident who began working with the community as an assistant in the Cultural Affairs Department for the City for Hoboken. She was instrumental in organizing Hoboken’s first Pride week. Currently, Migdalia works in the newly reconstituted Department of Constituent Affairs where she effectively finds solutions to residents’ day to day issues.

Ryan Yacco is DeFusco's campaign manager and served in that capacity in his Mayoral campaign as well. He also worked on Peter Cammarano's mayoral campaign.

  2. Be careful what you wish for. Ready to take Yacco's place at the helm of the DeFusco campaign is an individual so skilled that he has been described ( by himself, of course) as infallible in matters of politics.

  3. Yacco may have sufficient deniability as a legal matter - but he has no deniability as a practical matter in this town. His function for a long time has been to launder street money to paid voters. EVERYONE knows the score. Except the Tiff/Ruben clique who are on some kind of self-imposed death march with these known and recognized weasels.

I hope Mike keeps him. Great symbolic value for his opponent.

    1. Hilarious--someone sent me Tiff Square View Premium DRECK... what fact-free, fake news garbage! News blackout on reporting about witness Yacco and his admission that he's working for Defusco (Team Ramos!)... And not a word about Calicchio wearing a wire! No wonder that site is deader than Elvis. A cyber ghost town. Anyone who gives that guy a penny is a fool!

    2. There'd be 6 press releases by now if Yacco worked for Bhalla.

But I guess if Trump can take the word of Putin, Kim, and MBS over US Intelligence (repeatedly), then I guess his political offspring can do worse than trust Yacco in spite of the findings of federal prosecutors. Not to mention common knowledge. It's interesting to watch the rodeo clowns twist themselves into pretzels trying to drag Beth into everything while leaving out her reliance on Bluewater.

We don't live in remotely normal times when it comes to shared notions of truth, and republicans are far from the only ones playing the game.

    3. Well, in my experience, people who sit on their sofas all day stewing while watching Fox News are kind of nutty.
