Lepre-UPDATE(s)

Update:  As of 8PM...

Update:

Wow... sounds like a very, very light Lepre-outbreak.  Phew. Maybe it can be eradicated like polio?

Well, it takes a village to keep Hoboken residents protected. Chief Ferrante, all of the police officers and emergency workers on the front lines today and tonight, all of the City officials working in conjunction with the HPD, and of course, Mayor Bhalla and staff: thank you.  I'm crossing my shamrocks that the lepre-lull continues throughout the night.

Folks who want the latest Lepre-updates, please check Chief Ken Ferrante's Twitter.

2018 Tweet from Mayor Steve Fulop

Funny stuff last year from Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop.  Especially this line: "Note: it's certainly not welcome in JC."

Hey, it's not welcome here, either!

While Mayor Fulop observed in 2018, "this bar crawl is on life support," it still racked up over 400 incident reports. And the cost was transferred to Hoboken taxpayers.

So how's it going today?

GA reached out to Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante at around 2PM, and asked.

Ferrante said, "Good, calm so far."

Great! So, the City's Leprecon-on-the-down-low strategy appears to be working. Another city official reported,  "So far, so good. Only about two summonses so far."

Yesterday CBSNewYork wrote about Hoboken's low key Lepre-approach:

GA can report all quiet so far on my block... let's see what happens after the sun goes down.  Will post updates, if I hear anything.

Still, I believe that the cure for this annual suck-fest is to legislate the fun out of it and/or make it cost-prohibitive for bars to participate.  My two cents.
