Digital fingerprints left on document returned on my OPRA request |
One of the many documents returned on my recent OPRA request for documents exchanged about "Nixle" was a .pdf file called, "Nixle Complaint-Email Examples." The .pdf purports to show email complaints received about the Mayor's use of Nixle. The 5-page .pdf contains (2) alleged complaint-emails.
The above Document Properties reveal the digital signatures on the file.
Document Properties show that the "Nixle Complaint-Email Examples" .pdf was created from a Microsoft Word file called "Document 1." The Author of "Document 1" is "Tiffanie."
The .pdf file was created at 4:02 PM on January 16, 2019; I downloaded it from the 'cloud' yesterday morning, hence "modified at 10: 37 AM February 12, 2019."
Note: Document Properties cannot be edited by anyone except the Author.

WHY THESE "COMPLAINT EMAILS" DON'T PASS THE SMELL TEST
EMAILS WERE EDITED
Were this submitted as an exhibit attached to a litigant's motion, it would get tossed. The judge might even charge the Plaintiff/Defendant with evidence tapering ("spoliation"). Here's why.
These are not original files. If the emails are in fact authentic, then they should be printed, redacted (sensitive information covered or blackened out), then scanned-- or even photographed. Or digitally redacted.
Not only was the file created by "Tiffanie", she EDITED the emails. It may seem like a distinction without a difference, but it is all the difference between a credible document and one that has been tampered with. Once "Tiffanie" went in to substitute words, it is unverifiable what else she added/deleted/changed.
EMAIL COMPLAINT #1 SOUNDS LIKE FISHER WROTE IT
GA suspects that Fisher authored the first letter herself. It is utterly defensive. I could be wrong. I don't think so. Honestly, who cares that much? If 2 dozen residents in a city of 50,000 stream the Council meetings, there is a very tiny group who would read an Assistant Corporation Council's opinion AND an ordinance AND make every argument to protect Fisher's flank. It's her voice; "to be clear..." is a Fisherism. GA has experience spotting fakes. A fake letter-writer usually tries to throw in a gratuitous detail ("I live on XX street between Washington and Bloomfield") to persuade the reader its a real, other person. Fakes tend to over-explain. Think about it. Why does it matter where the alleged complainer lives?
EMAIL #2 COMPLAINT MAY BE AUTHENTIC, BUT WAS EDITED
That one sounds real. However, it was still edited by "Tiffanie" and cannot be trusted.
HOW TO PROVE THE ALLEGED COMPLAINT-EMAILS ARE AUTHENTIC
Follow these simple instructions:
MANUAL REDACTION
- Whomever received them, simply print out the originals.
- Redact sensitive information them without editing them.
- Scan or photograph.
- Send files to grafixavenger666@gmail.com- I will post the authentic, unedited files.
DIGITAL REDACTION
- Whomever received them, screencap open emails.
- open files in photo-editing software
- Cover/blur sensitive information.
- Convert to .pdf
- Send .pdf to grafixavenger666@gmail.com- I will post the authentic, digitally redacted files.
Until that's done, GA is calling 'BS' on these "complaints." That is my OPINION based upon the document returned from my OPRA request, and the reasons noted above.
But you know, if they are real... not exactly impressive. According to available data (2010 Census) in 2010, Fisher's Ward had 8,905 residents, and Giattino's Ward had 6,455. We can assume those numbers have grown in 9 years. So only one alleged complaint from each respective Ward?
WWJBD. What would James Barracato do. Pretty much the same thing. In fact he did. But he had the good taste not to run for office and not to present himself as a leader. Same thing MSV did a week ago.
ReplyDeleteSame old problem: trying to make 2 people look like a movement.
But even without the file tag (Councilwoman Dumbass) you can smell her passive/aggressive bullshit writing a mile off. Both she and the other member of the Gang of Two leave massive fingerprints in their online subterfuges. Not that they care.
Don't hold your breath waiting for a mea culpa. Instead expect the butt-hurt adapted version of Michelle Obama's slogan: When we get caught going low, we go lower.
It was "Reader Mail" to my councilwoman. What? Nixels get me super-upset and I sent "Reader Mail" to my councilwoman. Perfectly legitimate. Unsolicited. Nothing to see. Move along. Stop looking at me.
ReplyDelete"more (of my) voices are better"
ReplyDeletefischer wants her followers to go to an alt-right alex jones and 4chan conspiracy promoting website to read her thoughts on proper constituent communications. think about that for a minute.
ReplyDeleteWhen you need to report #fakenews and lies - where else are you going to turn besides that site and comment sections?
DeleteI am more and more disappointed in Fisher
ReplyDeleteThe amount of time wasted by this City Council on contrived politically motivated stupidity is truly remarkable.
ReplyDeleteIn their sick, twisted little Republican brains, they think they're crafting legislation for good governance, when it's clear that all they're doing is taking pot-shots at the mayor at every council meeting. Bhalla's far from perfect, and will probably only serve on term, but DeFuckup or Giattino would have been catastrophic.
DeleteGiattino is not widely popular, and is becoming less so after every council meeting, and little Mikey can't win without illegal vote harvesting, so they're hanging their hats on runoff elections and campaign promises with pictures of dead presidents. But what they're not counting on is how before the next mayoral race, some or all will have turned on each other, or been indicted, or both, and some other corruptocrat will take the lead.
I say we really push the sniveling weasels over the edge. If Ravi doesn't run again, draft Stan to run for mayor! They will go absolutely bonkers.
DeleteOn a serious note, yes Jen and Mike would have been disasters in their own special ways. We should be very happy neither one of them won.
I am very happy they did not win, but it seems like Bhalla is very ambitious, and is checking a box in his political career as our mayor, and he's gotten behind Booker very early in his campaign. Why? Because if Booker wins, Murphy gets to appoint his replacement for the balance of his term, and that person has an advantage in the next general election.
DeleteAmbitions aside, it's unlikely he'll go anywhere unless he does a great job for Hoboken. So far, so good despite some bad optics. I can live with his flaws over theirs any day. Plus, they're effing Republicans!
There are a lot of people close to Murphy who likely are way farther up the list than Mayor Bhalla. Can you even name the last time an appointed Senator was a mayor of a small town? Has it ever happened in any state?
DeleteMaybe, maybe not. We're not that small. Of the 565 municipalities in New Jersey, only 33 have larger populations, and most of them don't have as many very influential Democrats.
DeleteYou did not answer the question.
DeleteIts premise is meaningless
DeleteNo it isn't. There is no way in hell a mayor of a small town like Hoboken is getting a vacant Senate seat from Governor Murphy. Sorry, it is just never happening no matter how many tin foil hats you wear or conspiracies you weave out of thin air.
DeleteYou folks need to give it a rest already and stop making crap up.
Touched a nerve, have we? Hoboken is not a "small town". We're a small, dysfunctional city in the most corrupt county in the US. The point is, Bhalla's ambitions are very palpable, even to his ardently blind supporters. That's not necessarily bad for Hoboken if he performs, but when he reaches for the next gig, whether it's Trenton or DC while still in office, that's where his energies will go and he will cease to be an effective mayor. That void will leave Hoboken vulnerable once more for the return of the old guard and its new followers to power. Bhalla was better than the other choices, but that doesn't make him great.
DeleteAs much fun as it is to make wild what if extrapolations, the best way for Mayor Bhalla to advance his personal career would be to stay in Hoboken and prove his abilities. He is certainly savvy enough to understand that fact.
DeleteMany of the same old guard who were behind Cammarano has glommed onto DeFusco to be their Plan D. The best way to prevent the return of the corrupt old guard returning to power in Hoboken is to defeat their proxy candidate in November.
Yes, Hoboken is a small town. It is a 1 mile square town. 99% of the towns in New Jersey are small towns. These towns are so small that they barely would count as neighborhoods in most of the rest of the country. Hoboken's school district has so few students it couldn't fill one large high school in suburban Virginia.
DeleteSorry but you folks are crazy with your conspiracy theories. And you still haven't answered the question, when was the last time a mayor from a small town was appointed as Senator. I'll make it even easier, when was the mayor of ANY TOWN OR CITY appointed to a seat in the Senate.
City, town, borough, hamlet. They are all legally different things. Conspiracy theories? You folks? Stranger things have happened. Look who became POTUS.
DeleteKeep talking to yourself.
Whatever the fuck you want to call it, it is a community of 50,000 in a state of 9mm. No way in hell a mayor with no state wide following who barely is known outside of the county gets a Senate seat over prominent Democrats who are better known with far larger constituencies. You need to stop sniffing the horse glue already. It rots your brain.
DeleteWell, we have an unknown mayor from Indiana running for the nomination for the POTUS who's getting a lot of media attention. Why so defensive over any statement that doesn't fawn all over Bhalla?
DeleteI make it a point to never visit the AltBrice blog ever since he lost his mind as you are doing now.
He isn't unknown and has been building a following inside and outside the state for years as he angled for some sort of higher office. Wake me and remind me of your insane theories after Bhalla serves overseas in the military, writes a book, gets invited to Colbert and is seriously considered to run the state's Democratic party apparatus.
DeleteBTW, the guy is only unknown to you. Everyone else has been following him for a while.
The same sort of rumors swirled around Mayor Zimmer and they proved to be unfounded. The democratic process is a collaborative one. Having support at all levels of government is key to getting positive things accomplished for your constituency.
DeleteMy opinion without support in Trenton from Governor Murphy and others things like the UUD, Monarch, NJT rail yard build out, voter fraud and any number of issues would be much more difficult. Much of the same can be said for maintaining good relations with Hudson County power players.
This sort of gossip completely annoys me. It is usually started by people with an agenda and almost never has any basis in fact. I probably should have just ended the debate by pointing out Booker has no chance in hell of getting elected. He doesn't even poll well in NJ when people are asked if he would make a good president. He is going to poll even worse elsewhere.
