DeFusco invites developer (he shilled for at Jersey City's ZBA) to his kick-off FUNDRAISER

Remember this?

Yep, that was quite a pitch that First Ward Councilman Mike DeFusco made to the Jersey City Zoning Board on behalf of a bloated concrete barge that will straddle Hoboken's 4th Ward. Note, DeFusco did not appear as just any Hoboken resident.   He introduced himself this way:
"I am a city councilman... I myself sat on the Zoning Board in Hoboken for five years, so I'm certainly accustomed to a number of the issues that you're considering tonight.  I chair the Hoboken Southwest Redevelopment Committee. I also Chair the Hoboken Zoning Committee. So I thank you for your questioning. I thank you for your attention to this issue."
Well, the Councilman's bonafides sure bowled those Jersey City zoning bumpkins right over, because they approved the variances!  Hooray!  And you know, all of that shilling makes a guy hungry. Makes a guy ask: what's in it for me?

Well, what do you know... Councilman DeFusco is having his "New Energy, New Ideas" campaign Kickoff on February 5 and...

...LOOK WHO'S INVITED!

Now, Mr. Dell'Aquila has done nothing wrong, he is a businessman. Who wouldn't try to get his/her projects approved?  It is the Councilman's conduct which stinks.

Why would a Hoboken Councilman solicit donations from a developer whom he aided to get approvals for a massively profitable private sector project?

This is a pattern with him.

Read Mike Donnelly's ethics complaint. It's gotten lost in the histrionics of Councilwomen Fisher, but his allegations are serious: that Councilman DeFusco proposed changes to the zoning ordinance for increased lot coverage to benefit a Planning Board Applicant/donor who gave DeFusco campaign $1,200. Donnelly has exhibits, and they are compelling.

Which reminds me... ELEC campaign financing reports were due in on January 15. Two incumbent councilpersons have opened their 2019 campaign accounts: Ruben Ramos and Mike DeFusco. Only DeFusco's January ELEC report is in.

Well, a foul wind from a feces-filled barn blew in yesterday-- something about the mayor's January ELEC having  3 contributions in excess of Hoboken's Pay-to-Play Ordinance Z-89. If that is true, the mayor will refund the excess contributions. That is what honest politicians do.

Shall we hold Michael DeFusco for Hoboken City Council to those same Pay-to-Play rules?

HOBOKEN "PAY TO PLAY" ORDINANCE Z-89 EXCERPT
CONTRIBUTION LIMITS

Wow,  look at Councilman DeFusco's Schedule A (Contributions over $300 and all currency)...

ALL 8 of DeFusco's contributors have violated Hoboken's Pay-to-Play ordinance!   That's 100%!

Boy, that smelly barn is silent. No horse-shoe stomping that Mike DeFusco had better 'cure' these violations! Tiffanie Fisher is awfully quiet too...

MICHAEL DEFUSCO FOR CITY COUNCIL
(SCHEDULE A)
Submitted January 22, 2019

Well, hope springs eternal. Councilman DeFusco could return these excess payments in violation of Hoboken Ordinance Z-89.

He could stop doing developers favors, then wanting his palm greased.

He could.

  1. New energy, new ideas, new indictments.

Is that his handwriting on those forms? Whoever filled them out has some serious shit going on in their head.

    1. Ha! That handwriting belongs to MDF's Treasurer, Pedro Gonzalez, father of Eduardo Gonzalez-- the Eduardo Gonzalez who recently got booted from the HUMC Board of Trustees for squatting in a council seat.

    2. The printing looks like it was done by the shaking hand of someone who knows they're doing something wrong. Shame on Eduardo for coercing his elderly father into this.

  2. A VERY REAL PERCEPTION OF IMPROPRIETY

  3. It is public record that DeFusco already took money from Fourth Ward South West Redevelopment area developers DellAquila and Academy Bus, so why is he still he Chair of the City Council's South West Redevelopment Committee ?

Cunningham, Fisher, Giattino and Ramos set DeFusco up in that position and will be on the same slate in November. Presumably they will all also benefit from any political contributions raised by DeFusco from South West developers.

    1. DeFusco only needs to say 3 words to be totally forgiven by the council hypocrites and their hypocrite supporters: I'm not Ravi.

  4. If you look at who is going or interested in going, the list includes Vanessa Falco and Dave Mello, but a lot of names are not from Hoboken. Guess he'll be importing friends from out of town like he does for all of his fundraisers to be sure it's a vibrant affair!

    1. No pictures please. Apparently some who attended the fundraiser were not keen on being photographed at the event.

    2. Ok, got it, like La Famiglia, so long as the WiFi at the Pig and the Parrot is strong enough so my friends can hear their Grindr pings. They don't like to miss a booty call.

  5. Spotted at an uptown café tonight was DeFusco's failed running mate, Michael Flett. Which means only one thing: he wasn't at the big campaign kickoff of out of town donors who wish to play in the vibrant, big sandbox of zoning and planning board approvals Mikey has promised he's prepared for them.

Guess Flett's wised up a bit and is distancing himself from the stench of corrupt politics.
