Notable Hoboken residents who made the 'lists'

It's nice to see Hoboken residents acknowledged by our local media at the end/beginning of the year!  GA found four...

EMILY JABBOUR: "Hudson County Women to Watch in 2019" (HobokenGirl.com)

Congratulations, Councilwoman Jabbour!

Emily was one of 12 women honored by Hobokengirl.com on their annual "Hudson County Women to Watch" list.  While most of this year's honorees are recognized for entrepreneurship, Emily is noted for her civic engagement as Hudson County Leader of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and her part-time gig as At-Large Councilwoman-- all on top of her full time job for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and (her most important role) mom to two young daughters. How does she do it all and retain that cheerful disposition?

Bottle it, Emily!

STAN GROSSBARD- #15 "2018 Power List: The top 20 most influential non-elected officials in Hudson County" (HudsonCountyView.com)

Former Mayor Dawn Zimmer tries to get rid of husband

GA's response to seeing former Mayor Dawn Zimmer's husband listed on Hudson County View's  "2018 Power List: The top 20 most influential non-elected officials in Hudson County" was: [insert laugh trackReally? Stan Grossbard??? John Heinis must be spending time with Hoboken's "Reform Resistance" conspiracy nuts!  That was my response.

Sorry, Grossbard is no enigma "shrouded in mystery." If Stan were a planet, he wouldn't be cloud-covered Venus; he's Mars: cool on the outside with possible life below. Stan is personable, loquacious, knowledgeable, opinionated, an activist in his own right, and fierce guardian of his wife's legacy.  Did I say he's loquacious?

GA asked Stan: "How do you feel about being on this list?"

Grossbard hesitated, then replied,"I guess I should be flattered that John thinks my opinions matter but its kind of a dubious distinction to be included in any list headed by Donald Scarinci and Joey Muniz."

Ouch.

JOHN ALLEN/VIJAY CHAUDHURI - #14 "2018 Power List: The top 20 most influential non-elected officials in Hudson County" (HudsonCountyView.com)

LEFT TO RIGHT: Jason Freeman, John Allen, Michael DeFusco, Vijay Chaudhuri, Mayor Ravi Bhalla

A "passion for face punching"? Hmmmm.   Okay.   GA reached out to both men for comment.

John was unavailable. Vijay said, "Thank u, next."

There you go, folks.... and congratulations Emily, Stan, John and Vijay for distinguishing yourselves from Hoboken's unruly masses!  (Emily, I suppose the Hobokengirl honor will enrage the two jealous council mean-girls, but remember the rest of us have your back.)

Comments

  1. Heinis is getting spun to an embarrassing degree.

Re: online chatter, If you can make 15th on ANY list through anonymous blog commentary, the list is defacto crap. And since Heinis is now welcoming white supremacist crap as 'fair comment', perhaps it's a good thing that anonymous comments aren't all that influential.

Re: political face-punching, there isn't a single article on Heinis's own website to support that conclusion about Allen or Chaudhuri. So where'd he get it?

As of these "observations," he's sunk to the level of the Hoboken Reporter when Beth was buying half-page ads. Taking tips from people with an obvious agenda and signing his name (and reputation as a journalist) to it. Dumb.
