EXCLUSIVE: DeFusco adds more to his "Jason, you're fired on Hanukkah!" ordinance

Happy Hanukkah, everybody- except for Jason Freeman.

Jason is destined for a very unhappy Fourth night of Hanukkah because not only has Councilman Mike DeFusco doubled down on his cruel "Jason, You're Fired!" ordinance, but sources at City Hall report that he has made it much longer.

Yes, no second thoughts about 'ethnic cleansing' the Mayor's office! Councilman DeFusco has lengthened his pogrom-legislation with 15 Whereas clauses, explaining why the Mayor's Deputy Jewish Chief of Staff needs to be fired on the Fourth Night of Hanukkah.

Luckily for you,  GA has obtained an exclusive copy of Councilman DeFusco's amended ordinance below.

EXCLUSIVE:
DEFUSCO'S AMENDED "JASON, YOU'RE FIRED!" ORDINANCE

  1. Thanks GA, I needed a good laugh today...

I expect DickFusco will imply that it was the Mayor (or Jason on his behalf) who set the fire at Marine View during the day just so he couldn't be there. Watch the 12/17 agenda for an ordinance banning fires in the 1st ward between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

  2. Mayor Bhalla's staff was on the scene of Marine View and even bought pizza for the displaced residents.
Hope their good deed goes recognized by a City Council who has had a problem with pizza being given to First Ward residents without Defusco getting a slice.

    1. Seriously, whoever paid had better be reimbursed.

  3. The more DeFusco grandstands Beth Mason style, the more convinced I become that Ravi's runoff opponent will be Ruben Ramos.

    1. Ruben's first ask if elected mayor will be to repeal the anti-nepotism ordinance.

  4. UPDATE: Votes on DeFusco's "Fire Jason" ordinance:

YES: Cunningham, Giattino, DeFusco, Ramos, Fisher.
    NO: Falco, Doyle, Russo, Jabbour

    PASSED on First Reading.

    1. voting out of spite on an measure to fire someone right before the holidays, the move a true asshole even if the council has no authority to fire anyone.

    2. It's pretty obvious Ravi will veto this if it ever gets to a 2nd reading and the 5-4 first reading makes it clear that the votes aren't there to override.

This is a seriously stupid fight for DeFusco and his gang to be picking. Being stupid, nasty, immature and vindictive doesn't play well with voters.

In a way, it's even stupider for Ramos to be following along. If he wants to be Mayor, and by all accounts he does, he needs to separate himself from DeFusco some time soon and build his own identity as the grown-up in the room. Being the deciding vote voting this down would be the perfect opportunity for him to do that. Instead he seeems to be following along - basically continuing to brand himself as DeFusco Lite. That's not a brand that will beat DeFusco and get him to a runoff with Ravi.

Ravi is truly blessed in the quality of his opponents.

    3. December 31, 2019 could be the last day in office for all of those who voted for this ordinance. Who will actually run for re-election is a very real question ? Who will run to unseat them ?

    4. The only sure things at this point in the 2019 ward elections is that Ramos and Russo will continue to represent their wards, and that Fisher and DeFusco will run.

My guess is the most likely big winner in 2019 will be Mike Russo. Ravi needs to pick up 3 friendly seats to "control" the Council, and that will be very hard to accomplish. If he picks up only 1 or 2, Russo and Falco (who seems to vote with Russo) and any Russo aligned 1st ward councilperson (Castellano again?) will be the swing votes that decide what gets done.
