Who deserves credit for cell service on the PATH vs who is taking it

Props to PATH Riders Council Chair Stewart Mader for calling out this phony!

Something clicked last night when I read his Facebook smack-down; last September GA received an email which didn't make sense to me...

9/12/2018 Facebook post
The email had come from someone who believed that a Hoboken council member was using his position as a public official for his own personal political benefit. The author noted that this Councilman had been *demanding specific improvements in PATH service which corresponded to projects unbeknownst to the public, soon to come to fruition

(*Said Councilman had just launched a big PR campaign for specific PATH initiatives-- on Facebook, Twitter, a Change.org petition and a City Council resolution. )

Hence, the author suspected that the Councilman's demands ("install WiFi on all trains") were not coincidental, but instead-- with knowledge of projects already in the works-- timed for him to take a victory lap once the PATH initiatives (that he was coincidentally demanding) were publicly announced.

The message seemed vague and fuzzy at the time. What initiatives? Taking credit for what?  Well...

Hmmm. When GA worked on projects with another large public agency, it could take years to decide whether or not to sneeze-- that is, after the sneeze went through rigorous evaluation, legal review then 4 or 5 rejections (to perfect it), before consensus was reached.  In this case- a large mass transit organization, the competing priorities of various projects means that a project like this one likely takes much longer than a few weeks, especially when it involves approvals, contracts, coordination with outside vendors, etc. So what is the likelihood that a September resolution and online petition by one city councilman could result in a November rollout of a major capital project like WiFi at all PATH stations?

Answer: what is the lifespan of a snowball in Hell?

The email:

"...I have reason to believe that a Hoboken Council member may be using non-public information gleaned through his position as a public official to set up demands for things he knows are forthcoming. Based on the information I know about forthcoming projects, I find the timing of the Council member’s petition, and the specificity of his demands, quite uncanny.   My concern is that he is going to claim a false victory, and try to take credit for initiatives in the works for years that he had no hand in making."

His/her concern was warranted- allegedly.  But even if true (who knows?) obtaining information through one's position of power in order to grandstand and glom credit is not a crime; slimy politicians do it all the time.  I mean the bottom-of-the-barrel kind.  Because what is lower than stealing credit from those who deserve it? Not much!  Stealing credit from those who work truly hard for an accomplishment-- and stealing credit for political gain-- is sleazy, dishonest, and the mark of a shyster.

Hey, did you know that GA invented the light bulb? I swear I did.  And those pointy things some call "pyramids"-- all mine. I swear.

  1. Even in trying to take credit for the work of others, using non-public information in his social median meanderings, visible only to those he hasn't blocked, an ever growing list, DeFuckup still manages to get it wrong: the wifi will be on platforms, not trains.

However he obtained the documents he intended to parlay into his latest ego trip, I hope the agency he compromised takes action, never offers him another seat at the table, and that others similarly positioned do the same. He should be politically marginalized for his lack of ethics and discretion alone.

    1. You're right- cell service will be available on PATH platforms (and on trains while in stations), so that "Cell Service on the PATH" Facebook image is misleading the public. It should read "Cell Service at PATH stations." Are you blocked from his council (not personal) social media accounts, too? I am-blocked on Twitter, and blocked from commenting on Facebook.

    2. Like many, I only see the paid ads he spreads around Facebook like manure, hoping support will grow from a shrinking base if covered with enough bullshit.

  2. Transit agencies all over the country are rolling out wifi on trains. Him pretending he had something to do w/ this is quite honestly, idiotic. He might as well take credit for a river being wet.

    1. He's pitching to sycophants, political allies and the low-information crowd (even less informed than deplorables )...you know, who believe that PATH "listened" to his Twitter tantrum. The rest will take a pass on the snake oil.

    2. It's working. People are thanking him on facebook as though he single-handedly engineered this, and not a single person has contradicted his narrative. So gross.

  3. Love Mike's credit-grabbing it's-all-about-me chut's paws or hut's pa? (how do you jews say it? I love jew words, but so tricky to spell..)

He has me re-thinking my homophobia. Not really but, I like to dangle that every now and then to attract the not very bright. Mike would totally understand my approach.

    1. I understand, HH. You're verklempt because Michael Cohen, ratted you out in federal court this morning. The chutzpah! Making deals for a Trump Tower in Moscow through the 2016 election into 2017, when you were asking Russia to find Hillary's emails! Another Steele dossier fact verified! Oy vey... beside Putin, who else has a copy of your Moscow Hotel pee-pee tape? Did the feds find one when they raided Cohen's office? Meshugah!

  5. What's Mike's sister's name? This has to be friend/family of Mike:

    "Note all superheroes wear capes.

Excellent work Mike!! I'm so glad that YOU made this happen.

You are the one person on the CC who gets things done. You should've been mayor. You work tirelessly for Hoboken and for your constituents. You sir, are the chosen one!

Simply put, this is amazing. You.are.amazing!"

    1. I think you're missing the point. Spontaneous, genuine praise has it's place. But there's just something precious about forced, groveling soviet-style sycophancy. People who want a job, or want to worm their way into your good graces, or are just in fear for their lives provide a kind of grotesque adulation that you just can't place a price on. Very Christmassy.

  6. Last night, along with several other neighbors, I came out for the Court Street and Castle Point repaving meeting while my wife stayed home with our sons. I thought this was Defusco's pet project? He came late, left early, and while he was there, spoke briefly but only to take shots at the mayor. Guess he's miffed that we don't want cafes on Court Street. At least three other neighbors complained publicly after he left about the fact that he wasn't there to hear the consultants and his constituents. But it's clear that after the work is done, he'll try to take all the credit.

  7. Update: Stewart and my comments were taken down from his Facebook post and now were are also blocked from commenting (we should start a club). I guess he doesn't like being called out for falsehoods.

That's been up 26 minutes. How long did your post last?

    2. Well first I was accused of being homophobic and a Trump fan. Maybe it was 4 hours before "the chosen one" deleted and blocked me.

    4. He's going to play the homophobia card every chance he gets. Most people in town didn't know he was gay until he started using it for political expediency. Guess he stepped out of the cabinet, I mean closet, and into the voting booth.

New flash, Mikey: No one gives a shit about your sex life. You're disliked for everything else you say and do that harms Hoboken and helps your corrupt developer contributors.

    5. A federal judge has ruled that no elected official may block anyone on social media.

“Because no government official is above the law and because all government officials are presumed to follow the law once the judiciary has said what the law is, we must assume that the president and Scavino will remedy the blocking we have held to be unconstitutional,”

      https://knightcolumbia.org/content/knight-institute-v-trump-lawsuit-challenging-president-trumps-blocking-critics-twitter

It's consistent with his inversely proportioned ego, that he feels he's above the law. We really need to get that Facebook group going of people he has blocked. How about "Muted by Mike"?
