It's impossible to measure the gratitude, humility and respect we owe our country's veterans. One day is memorialized for them (today) but so many veterans and their families live with the toll of service everyday; scars that you can see and scars you can't. Lives and families forever changed somehow. Loved ones who come back but are not the same.
All who enlisted (or submitted to the draft) rolled the dice. Nobody can know what they will see or experience, if they'll come back whole or come back at all. These words are not trite, they are real: military service is willingness to pay the ultimate sacrifice for your country. Putting one's own skin in the game to keep this thing of ours, America, going.
For the heroes that stepped up, for the patriots who live with the consequences, GA thanks you from the bottom of my heart. As the proud aunt of a Marine reservist and the daughter of an Army vet, nothing but R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
