Mike DeFusco, backed by Ramos' shady "New Jersey Democracy in Action" Hackensack crew, are telling Hoboken residents that "run-offs would be in December, but not during the Holiday Season."
Funny, Hanukkah moves from year to year.
In 2021, Hanukkah begins on November 28. Boom! November 2, 2021 is Hoboken's next mayoral election! When Mike DeFusco runs for Hoboken mayor again, run-offs will fall on the 3rd day of Hanukkah. (Oh, right. He doesn't think Hanukkah is the "holiday season.")

Message to Mike DeFusco: Hoboken's Jewish community celebrates Hanukkah. Especially households with children. I used to give my kid a present everyday for 8 days- ka ching. It's a big deal for some.
Interesting that the Councilman doesn't consider the 8-days of Hanukkah, which fall in December, the "holiday season."
Could this be the reason why DeFusco omitted the "Interpretive Statement" from Municipal Question #1? So Hoboken's Jewish community wouldn't understand that run-offs could overlap our 8-day Holiday?
In contrast, the 2012 ballot question had an Interpretive Statement, which explained all implications of eliminating run-offs. Why did Mike DeFusco omit the Interpretive Statement on our ballot question, then lie to Jewish voters that run-offs won't interfere with our Holiday Season?
He owes our community an apology.

The holiday season - to pretty much everybody who uses the phrase - refers to the period from Thanksgiving to New year's. So runoff will be smack dab in the middle of it for everyone - not just Jewish people celebrating hannukah when it happens to be early.
ReplyDeleteIn fact wilipedia says it stars in "late November" and ends in "early January."
4 pinnochios for Councilman DeFusco!
Some of DeFiasco's less intelligent old guard supporters are already lamenting moving elections when we got rid of runoffs. What's the next maneuver going to be from our angry, incompetent city council members, move the elections back to May?
ReplyDeleteSomeone tell DuhFlacko December IS the holiday season. Up until New Years Day. Even worse if runoffs fall DURING a religious holiday. Santa, please bring DuhFlacko a calendar for Christmas and a brain.
