Five-term Hoboken Councilwoman Theresa Castellano went on the record today with the lovely John Heinis of Hudson County View, telling him:
That is more-or-less what she said to me a couple of weeks ago; that her former First Ward constituents approach her constantly to voice dissatisfaction with Councilman Mike DeFusco. Call it "buyer's remorse." Some who had bought DeFusco's promises hook, line and sinker are apologizing to Castellano, telling her that voting for Mike was a big mistake.
GA just reached out to Terry to see if she could toss me another crumb.

CASTELLANO LINES UP TESTIMONIALS
Well folks, Castellano has learned from losing to DeFusco's media-savvy, marketing-heavy campaign. Terry's Old School-- or was. This time around, she's going to beat him at his own game.
Here's what she has in store for her opponent...
Castellano has been lining up First Ward residents for video testimonials of how crappy a Councilman DeFusco has been.
Yikes! The testimonials will be of verifiable anecdotes, contacts they had or tried to make with Councilman DeFusco for any variety of reasons, and his response--or lack thereof. Yes, so many of his constituents are so dissatisfied, they want to go on the record. With "proof." Not sure what "proof" means-- emails? Voice mails?
Yep. That's just for starters. Wasn't that a juicy crumb? Stay tuned.

ReplyDeleteBut TODAY was really special. You see, an old pal of Yappy the Alt-Right Real Estate Agent has announced that she's thinking about returning to public office. Other than the Yapster, who always keeps his options open, most people didn't have much use for her and were only too happy to see her voted out of office.
So why is this barnacle considering a return? (Not Yappy, he never goes away. We're talking about the other barnacle.) Is there mounting constituent dissatisfaction with our terminally shrill Mr DeFuss? Why? What's the problem?
There was a danger that those very questions could have been asked and a detailed discussion ensued. After all the job performance of the incumbent is always the underlying subject of an opposition candidacy - especially this one.
But our heroes Yappy, Hoaxie and Kuck were snapped into action to make sure no such discussion could get started. They made YOU the subject! Dozens of comments all about YOU, YOU, YOU! Not a word about Mr DeFuss. A blogging miracle!
Apparently, Castellano is crawling out of the crypt because... YOU. You somehow. You, just you. That's why that's all we're gonna talk about at H and Effs. No need to talk about our friend and insufferable douche Mr DF. Which Yappy will be quick to point out is somehow homophobic.
Our concerns that one of our middle-aged pre-adolescents would yield to the temptation to "act like a man" were also unfounded. Yappy, Hoaxie and Kuck held strong the their fecal projectiles. Not one stepped up to limit the very personal attacks and biographical detail or suggest that maybe things were going a bit too far like, you know, a man might do. Or an adult woman, like Tippy or Princess Gia. But no, not even the adorable little Mr Kudos!
Well the Marines may be looking for a few good men, but we sure as hell ain't! I by golly we don't have any. Not one! Just a little band of aging shut-ins hoping and praying that their public loathing for you will give their shrinking lives meaning. It's very special to have guys like that on my team. #SoHonored!

the scary thing is she probably would do a better job than him. that is how much of a self-serving lowlife the guy is.
ReplyDeleteCastellano never had cross-over appeal, so her votes were capped. Defusco could get some brain-dead reform types and pro-development old-guard and shills like Sores. Some of Defusco’s coalition may be falling apart. But Castellano still has no cross-over appeal. A lot will depend on whether there are runoffs that the old guard and butt-hurts are clamoring for. A third candidate could beat those two. But in a run-off the butt-hurts will never support anyone that Bhalla supports regardless. The poor turnout favors the old guard.
ReplyDeleteIn a three way race, I think Ravi's candidate would have an advantage. Folks are forgetting that Ravi barely had fewer votes than Michael in 2017. Assuming those votes hold, it's advantage Ravi. I also think that in a runoff, there is no way in hell that Castellano would not endorse Michael, and instead would endorse Ravi's candidate. It would be sweet justice if Michael was swept away in a runoff and with Terry this upset at Michael and the crappy job he is doing, a runoff sets things up to precisely go that way.
ReplyDeleteMichael's scorched earth campaigns will come back to bite him. I think it was a huge strategic mistake for him to build his career off of being a negative campaigner and a jerk (with regard to the later look how he treated Karen Nason who was not even a threat to him, what a jerk). All these bridges he's burning will come back to bite him. Pissing off Terry, Ravi, and very respected people in the 1st ward like Annette and the police chief will hurt him deeply, not slightly, deeply. Michael is going to be hit from all sides because he's hit all people on sides.
p.s. It's only Jen, who Michael disparaged in mailers during the campaign as a conflicted real estate agent, and Tiffany, who filed an campaign finance complaint against him, who are likely to kiss his ass. That gives you a sense of how principled either Jen or Tiffanie are.
