Thanks to Councilpersons Ruben Ramos, Mike DeFusco, Tiffanie Fisher, Peter Cunningham and Jen Giattino's bi-weekly browbeating Hoboken Mayor Bhalla for a client list and commissions regarding his 'of-counsel' position, guess what happened?
Yesterday the Mayor surprised them with full disclosure of what they asked for: his client list and commissions.

So with yesterday's disclosure, the City of Hoboken has learned that Mayor Bhalla's "sole focus [is ]on the City of Hoboken, and was told of his long list of accomplishments in 6 short months:
It is a sad day for Bhalla's antagonists who had hoped to ride allegations of nefarious, self-dealing into the next election cycle. How badly has the council's smear campaign backfired? This badly:
(1) The public-- who unlike Fisher and her Moonwalkers is not preoccupied with Bhalla's passive revenue stream-- is now assured that he is a full-time mayor.
(2) Fisher and her Moonwalkers have destroyed their narrative that Bhalla is anything but a full-time mayor.
(3) Fisher and her Moonwalkers have destroyed their narrative that Bhalla is self-dealing at the expense of Hoboken residents.
(4) Fisher and her Moonwalkers have lost control of the story; Bhalla took it back.
(5) Fisher and her Moonwalkers have lost the news cycle.
This a disaster for the Bhalla-derangement crowd. Well, they overplayed their hand with the threat that the mayor reveal his client list/commissions or resign his 'of-counsel' job-- never expecting that he'd comply.
THE COUNCIL MASTERMINDS ARE NOT HAPPY
If the Mayor's council antagonists were genuine about their ethics inquiries into his of-counsel gig, you'd expect them to be heartened by yesterday's response.
Um, word has it they are not. Word has it they are whining, blaming others and on social media, trying to shift the goalpost.. Fisher's issue now is "distraction" and "conflict".

What next?
DeFusco has been whining that the Mayor's 'of-counsel' position a "no-show job"-- it is not. Retaining 'Of-Counsel' attorneys is a common, legitimate practice in the legal profession, especially common for lawyers-turned-politicians and/or others of accomplishment who no longer practice day-to-say but want to keep their attorney status. What a surprise that DeFusco is smearing an entire profession in order to hit one target.

There is no good faith coming from this crew. Their goal is to punish the mayor economically, the same way they tried to take the nominal stipends away from his aides. Petty, mean, nasty, self-defeating. Ask Beth Mason where that got her.

ReplyDeleteLike the fake news campaigns of the alt-right, the Bhalla smears have the sole purpose of expressing contempt. Nothing to do with uncovering corruption or looking out for the citizenry.
The interesting part is that all but one of the key participants sees himself/herself as being morally superior to the alt-right. Fat chance.
We have been told since before the election that Bhalla would make huge deals with developers and spend every waking hour looking for his next political office. So far nothing of the kind has happened. But the alt-truth squad doesn't care. They act as if that has already happened or is happening. It excuses, in their eyes, their 24/7 public and private vendetta.
Can they point to a single act of relevance to Hoboken?
That's not what they're about.
Everything 'they' say continues to be wrong. Let'em think that Bhalla wants out of Hoboken. Who cares? These fools play games while Bhalla raises money for 2021, and gears up for 2019. The only one close to safe is Ruben.

ReplyDeleteAnd if you want to talk about conflict - show me the conflict. He is producing no billable hours. He is doing no work outside of town. The one client that is working w/ that law firm that Ravi used to represent is a few towns away in a different county - so where is the conflict?
I will tell you where it is - in her head. She is imagining things and quite honestly, I think she needs professional help. She has full blown case of Bit Mazonitis.
