Karen goes out on a high note! Look who's running for First ward council!

Now that was the way to go out!  

After 7 years of serving up coffees, dessert, pizza and that personality, Karen closed out the Hoboken Hothouse lights. Surrounded by friends, neighbors, her loyal customers- plus me and my daughter (who won't let me brag about her  4.469 GPA and/or her 6 A+'s and 2 A's) it was a lovely event.  Yep, Karen's warmth, hospitality and voice filled that outdoor space, alongside talented  singer/guitarist Mike Deej.

Okay, so who was there...  John Allen, for one.  The Mayor's Chief-of-Staff stopped by to wish Karen well (and possibly guzzle some wine).  Pics:

Between songs, GA had some very interesting conversations with some of the guests, heard some hilarious anecdotes.  Nah, not repeating them now.

But GA got permission to report the following big exclusive.

LOOK WHO'S RUNNING FOR 1st WARD COUNCIL 
GA heard it right from the source: Terry Castellano  plans to unseat incumbent Mike DeFusco.

Now, we all knew that Terry is not a fan of Mike's. You may even recall this anecdote from last year's Spaghetti Dinner posted on GA. About how the First Ward Councilman was making the rounds schmoozing.

"It appears not all targets of DeFusco's attention wanted it.  Overheard when Mike DeFusco approached former First Ward Councilwoman Terry Castellano....

Castellano said, "Walk away from me, you creep!"

And he did.  Walk away.

After that, Terry was heard telling her companion, "First Ward constituents call me constantly to complain about him. They tell me that when they call him for help, he tells them, "I have a fulltime job, I can't help you!"

Wow. GA heard exactly the same thing from a First Ward resident who voted for DeFusco, and regrets it.  Heard that he tells constituents who need help, "I have a fulltime job."

In fact, GA hears there is widespread nostalgia for Terry Castellano."

That 2017 Spaghetti dinner anecdote came from a third party source.

Last night, Terry C was my source. She told me directly about how many First Ward residents who voted for DeFusco because he promised x, y and z have come to tell her that he didn't deliver on his promises, that he doesn't return calls.  In short, they say he "stinks" and have asked her to return to the Council. 

It looks like they'll get their wish. 

Anyway, needless to GA was shocked!  I'll keep  you posted on this developing story.
