Hoboken Dem committee turnout is YUGE - 70!

Hoboken Dems, amazing turnout last night!  YUUUUGE.

Hoboken Mayor Bhalla's strength among our Mile Square's Democratic Party organization was evident: 70 out of 80 Dem Committee members schlepped to Kearny High School, site of the HCDO election.

GA has confirmed ("at least") 64 out of 70 voted for the Mile Square's Senator, Brian Stack.

Let's recap.
  • 87.5% of the Hoboken Democratic Committee showed up last night.
  • 91.4% of Hoboken Dem Committee members in attendance voted for Stack.

What does this mean?  Hoboken's Democratic party is united-- united against the SCREWING of Hoboken taxpayers via a continuation of the screwing of Hoboken taxpayers under County Executive Tom DeGise- see below!

While a vast majority of the committee supported Hoboken's representative at the NJ Senate, someone who can legislate for Hoboken (and we have leverage to negotiate with him), two North Bergen Councilwomen worked hard for the status quo.

I look forward to the North Bergen Councilwomen's explanation on why they wanted a 6th DeGise term (based upon what's happened to Hoboken taxpayers during the last 5 terms).

That is the political reality for Hoboken peeps.

Have a couple of stiff drinks so you don't feel Tom DeGise's next county tax hike going in.  Pretend you like it, baby... oh you want it. Mmmmmm ooooh ahhh...  paying for HudCo's hundreds of patronage jobs feels so good...

Hey, if the County wants to make nice to Hoboken, funding a world-class public pool in Hoboken would be the place to start.  No more schlepping out to the Secaucus Swim Center; Hoboken taxpayers can enjoy the fruit of our labor in our own city pool. Wake up, Stick Romano. Put this on the table.

Anyway, for an overview of last night's results, the New Jersey Globe breaks it down.

Ouch.

Lastly, from the perspective of one Hoboken Dem committee person,  GA received this last night:

"There was a huge crowd in front of the entrance mostly cheering for Brian Stack.

Tiffanie posted this morning that the rumors of parking being blocked off weren’t true and that the spaces were being reserved for Committee people for tonight’s vote. However, we walked by many many spaces that were empty and had signs for temporary no parking Tuesday 4 to 9. We were parked several blocks away so we had time to walk by all the empty spaces...

I did not see any council people from Hoboken, only the mayor and Assembly woman Chaparro. Maybe they were all at Michael DeFusco’s party.

I don’t read Romans blog normally because it seems like hes spiraling into crazy town and it’s kind of sad, but the videos he posted sum it up.

The whole thing was a circus - crowded, poorly run, no AC, plus the loudspeaker was terrible so you couldn’t hear anything. Up at the front people were waiting for them to open the machines and were getting really angry waiting. Please note there were only old white men in charge of the polls. You can’t really claim a shattered glass ceiling if only one woman goes through and everything else stays the status quo."

Thank you, anonymous committee peson.

  1. Love the dog house.

Bhalla should consider a new strategy. Decide what he thinks is best for Hoboken, and then say he’s against it. That way Fisher and Giattino will fight for it (even if they have to do it on the qt once again).

Speaking of Giattino, have any democrats been invited to weigh in on selecting the county’s republican leadership?

    1. The problem with your plan is assuming Tiffanie and Jen can deliver anything.

  2. Stack: Senator, Mayor and HCDO leader.

    1. I'll say. Now its Sacco: Senator, Mayor and defacto HCDO leader.

That's not all: no doubt Sacco will nibble into Stack's turf. Wait and see.
