People, I may have to give up watching Hoboken's bi-weekly council clown show. These Council clowns aren't nice.
Assorted observations from last night:
(1) Patty Waiters loves John Allen.
Oh, she does. I mean who doesn't? Hey Patty, don't leave out Jason! He's working his butt off, too! And lovable!
(2) Mike DeFusco doesn't love Jason Freeman.
In one of his first comments, DeFusco called Freeman "the mayor's political crony" and threw all-encompassing shade on the mayor's aides. So much-- all 50 shades of shade.
(3) Tiffanie Fisher doesn't love John Allen or Jason Freeman, and is not so good at math or facts.
It appears the mayor's office outsmarted the Clown Council. I love it! Fisher citing "sources" affirmatively stated that only one person had received a stipend in the mayor's office, not two. Well, GA knows that is wrong, wrong wrong. And 3 wrongs do not make Tiffanie Fisher right. Fisher had a melt-down over her apparent inability to punish two hard-working aides economically. Boo to The Hoo. Since Corp Counsel is Ricing this matter, you wont hear about it any more until Fisher leaks the confidential discussion to the Alt Right blog, after which GA files an ethics complaint against her. Stay tuned!
(4) Tiffanie Fisher and Mike DeFusco accused the mayor of P2P violations on his current ELEC (April 15 2018)
GA looked at the report, and found that yes, (2) City vendors exceeded the $300 donation limit last month as follows:
- Prestige Environmental gave $600, dated March 29, 2018. ($300 refund required)
- Boswell Engineering gave $300, received March 1, 2018- aggregate $600 ($300 refund required)
If you are not a Council clown, you see an error of omission, that the mayor's Treasurer is operating in good faith, and refunding excessive contributions, reporting them on the Adjustment Schedule (see below). An internal review should catch any future vendor contributions in excess of P2P limits. The remedy is simple: refunding the excess contribution and reporting it on the next Adjustment Schedule.

(5) Mike DeFusco is the reigning Council P2P King, and his Cover up Queen is Tiffanie Fisher.
Refer to editorial graphic above.
When is the Cover Up Queen going to follow up on her P2P complaint against Mike deFusco?
How can she decouple alleged Mayoral P2P from her colleague's vastly greater P2P violations?
One is an error of omission, the other is flagrant corruption with no effort made to remedy.
Fisher's silence is not golden.

(5) It's 2010 all over again.
Check this out... a Zoning Board applicant appeared at the City Council per the instruction of the ZBA Engineer. As a condition of approval, the applicant, a commercial property owner, asked for approval to move an existing curb cut "6 feet". No additional curb cut would be added, no parking spaces lost. It was an alignment issue flagged by the ZBA Engineer. Moving the curb cut would make it safer for pedestrians. Further, the applicant went into great detail about the adverse impact of denying this very inconsequential request.
Well.. This simple request to move an existing curb cut for better alignment with existing parking spots, and reduce the sharp angle of the turn into the parking spot, evolved into a half-hour mental masturbation-fest over the implications of moving the damn curb cut 6 feet. It was the stupidest, most frustrating spectacle I have ever witnessed at the Council-- and that is a low bar.Why didn't the applicant start screaming?
What happened next: the resolution got tabled; Fisher and DeFusco needed more rumination time. Applicant: bring a visual display next time; a simple diagram of the condition and a photo.
(6) Patty Waiters loves John Allen.
How do you say hypocrite in 2 letters? T.F.
ReplyDeleteWow, two OPMA violations in one week (which is what Rice Notices fall under). That's gotta be some kind of record, even for the Worst Ward Councilman.
ReplyDeleteIt's doubtful that the Council of No even knew what a Rice Notice was, but they do now.
I can't wait until the city gets sued because of her vindictiveness and stupidity.
DeleteDefusco's pay to play violations won't go away. His opponent will have them listed on fliers and handbills. If Fischer and Giatino run on a ticket with him, they'll be challenged in debates about why they recognized the violations before and now act like they don't exist. Their Trump fanboy's safespace will sweep it under the rug. The voters won't.
ReplyDeleteEven if they run against him, they are actively conspiring with him now. Their reputation is as tarnished as his IMO.
DeleteYes. P2P King Michael will be called out continually and constantly for his pay to play violations. Tiff and Jen will hear about it constantly as well via all methods of communication. I’m sure of it.
ReplyDeleteRight. No comparison between an oversight which will get remedied in ONE elec cycle and unremedied TENS of THOUSANDS in illegal contributions. Talk about collusion. Not a peep from Fisher now. As long as Fisher embraces the"ethics" of Mike DeFusco she has no moral authority to lecture the Mayor's office. If there was true "collaberation" Fisher/DeFusco would have notified the mayor promptly instead of waiting to grandstand on May 2.
DeleteFolks, my great administrator for my great blog said it best. The councilman ”may haveviolated the spirit of the law. May have. The 71,000 times part is getting too much coverage in the fake news. Focus on the “may have.”
