NY Waterway v. Nora the Mom (Round 1)

credit: hMAG story, "SORRY, YOU LOSE..."

GA  loves riding on NY Waterway- I do!

It's a perk of Hoboken living; much better than commuting  to work by bus or train. One can either relax or else guess what NYC looks like from behind the murky layer of crud plastered on windows since fire was invented.

Now, that is true.  There is so much crud on those ferry windows, whenever I ride one I think of Pompeii-- under a blanket of crud which took years to excavate.  I don't think it would take years to excavate the ferry's glass panes, but it would take work... sand-blasting? A blow torch?  Windex?

Not that I mind the crud; I grew up in Queens. But, it might bother others.  So, it's fair to suggest that ferry owners clean the windows every now and then, isn't it?

That's what Hoboken Democratic Committeewoman (and mom, journalist, chef), Nora Martinez DeBenedetto did.  Nora made her suggestion on NY Waterway's Facebook post: "Sign this Petition to Defend Our Ferries"

Big Props to hMAG for screen capping Nora's exchange with the owner of NY Waterway, Arthur Imperatore.

Jeez, that was harsh.

Instead of replying, "Great idea, Nora! There's so much crud on our windows, it looks like Manhattan's in a permanent solar eclipse! I'm going to ShopRite now!" the owner wrote, "Sorry, you lose."

We lost?

Does he know something we don't know?  How does he know  Hoboken lost

Imperatore deleted that comment after hMAG posted their story. Makes you wonder, don't it.

  1. yes, thank you nora and GA! i thought i was the only one who noticed the perpetual hazy grime on those windows. i've never trusted this company, reminds me of years ago when they added an "emergency fuel surcharge" when gas prices spiked and then quietly never removed the surcharge when gas prices later dropped to near-record lows.

also: "Not that I mind the crud; I grew up in Queens." GA FTW, LOL!!!
