On February 8, 2018, when the Hoboken Housing Authority held its last meeting, Governor Christie's appointment to the HHA, former Hoboken Councilwoman Beth Mason, sat with the public.
The reason: her appointment was "unofficial" pending action by the Department of Community Affairs. It seems that Governor Christie may not have followed proper procedure for the appointment through the proper authority; it may be called the "governor's appointment" but the HHA appointments are actually made by the DCA.
The scuttlebutt was that in his haste, Christie did not do the paperwork and consultation with DCA authorities required to make the appointment 'stick', he just announced it.

So that after the meeting, HHA Chairman Mello posted this on Facebook:
Unfortunately, the HHA website has not been updated with February 8th's meeting transcript or minutes-- in fact, the HHA website has no agendas at all posted in 2018, and the public notice for the next week's meeting (March 8) is not online yet. Don't bother with the HHA's Facebook page- it 's current to 2014.
Maybe Mello and other Commissioners should post updates on the HHA's Facebook page- all in one place- instead of on their individual pages?
But I digress... it has been very quiet. No announcements.
If the Mason appointment has fallen through, then there is a vacant seat, still. The Bhalla administration has a good relationship with the Murphy administration... would the DCA under Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver appoint Christie's choice (Beth Mason) or someone else?
