UPDATE: Bhalla: "The NJ Transit deal is DEAD!" (VIDEO)

MESSAGE FROM MAYOR BHALLA

Dear Hoboken,

It's official - we saved the Union Dry Dock property from being taken over by Chris Christie and NJ Transit!

This is a HUGE victory for Hoboken and our mission to preserve our waterfront.

Today's final decision would not have been possible without the grassroots support from so many residents, civic groups and elected officials. We collectively stood up to the disgraceful actions of Chris Christie and NJ Transit, which purposefully rescheduled a last minute "emergency" vote to take over our waterfront land on the LAST DAY of the Christie administration, which happened to be of all days, Martin Luther King Jr. Day! But, because we raised our voices and made it clear that a forced decision without any type of engagement with our community was unacceptable, the NJ Transit Board backed down today.

I want to thank Governor-elect Phil Murphy, who was fully supportive of our efforts, as well as Senator Booker, Senator Menendez, former Mayor Dawn Zimmer, our Assembly delegation, and City Council. I look forward to working with our elected officials and entire community to put forward thoughtful proposals to complete the last piece of our precious waterfront.

A final thank you to the many residents who joined me in Newark today for the meeting, and to all those who spoke out over the last several weeks. It was your advocacy that helped make the difference.

Sincerely,

Mayor Ravi Bhalla

Happy MLK Day, people.

  1. great job, kudos!

btw, how is the butt hurt gang going to spin the fact that mayor bhalla lets ramos and tiff share the spotlight here, after months of them claiming he was in the pocket of nj transit and how we're about to be overrun by NJT apartment towers? they've proven themselves to be entirely shameless and will act like the mayor's best friend when it's in their political best interest.

    really shameless.

    1. As it happens our Alt-Right-Loonies-Only (ARLO) site is working on an exciting exposé! It seems that the Boys of Summer are even now closing in on... the Boys of Summer!

I'm not totally following what we're calling "the logic" of our story myself, but we can report four important developments.

One, a "Storm" is coming. We do so love our alti-licious Storm imagery! With luck there could soon be a Daily Storm!

Two, with the election over, our ARLO site is definitely flying its uber-alt freak flag. You can't even find these, what we're calling "stories," on Fox!

Three, we have firmly convinced ourselves that when the Boys of Summer finally round up the Boys of Summer (just go with it) it will be discovered that Unelectable really was behind the terrorist flyer along with his paymasters at NJ Transit, and our continuing innuendo that the proprietor of this site created the flyer will be proven true -- thus resolving the claims of defamation that our lawyers keep warning us about!

Four, our recent polling shows that Jen has SURGED into a tie with Unelectable!

  2. Considering that Fisher and Ramos teamed up with Giattino to table the eminent domain vote until after the election, and then didn't have that vote, which could have cost us any bargaining power at all, it's sickening to see how they now insinuate themselves into the situation that they attempted to derail. Can't wait until they're gone.

    1. Notice how depressed they look? They are desperate to avoid taking blame for potentially screwing up the purchase of that property so they sulk to the front for a photo op knowing full well they did nothing productive to help the situation out.

    2. Yes, and it has shades of Mason's debacle with the hospital sale. Had it not gone through, she would have bankrupted the city. She needed a police escort into city hall the night of the special meeting, though they always gave her special services, and she had to make it seem as though she had saved the day and she or members of her cabal would have an illegal seat on the hospital board, and that was the trade off. Now she's on the HHA board, where she will no doubt ingratiate herself to the residents, to build a bloc of voters for whatever she intends to inflict upon us in the next election cycle. We always knew what Ramos and Russo were about, and now Giattino, Cunningham, Fisher ad DeFusco can enjoy the fact that we will now link them politically with the destructive maneuvers of Mason.

    4. I expect a similar Mason/hospital stunt with Suez. The council will approve something very similar to the deal Zimmer already worked out. But they'll tweak it ever so slightly to get their fingerprints on it and claim to have saved the city (from themselves).

    5. They are twits. Absolute twits. And to think, they had the stupidity to put one of the people who approved that last Suez deal on a pedestal as CC President and another on the NHSA so he can go screw something up over there.
