Councilwoman Fisher's $10K fundraising letter for blogger Roman Brice

Folks, GA has had this letter since last May. I wasn't going to post, but now I have to in order to rebut Roman Brice's latest creepy, stalkerish screed - his almost daily ritual of posting an unflattering photo of me with a companion rant.
"Tiffanie Fisher invited people to read MSV and join premium, there was no fundraiser. Nancy Pincus has been lying about this for months now."
Um, no Roman.

You left out the part about "help[ing] raise $10,000 for Roman"- either through a subscription or "a direct donation in any amount.

That is a fundraising letter. For you. From Councilwoman Fisher. With a target of $10,000. In fact, Fisher called me before she sent the letter, telling me about her intent to raise money for Roman- with a $10K goal, and wanted some feedback. I remember at the time saying that I didn't see anything wrong with the letter.

But, I didn't have a crystal ball either.  And I am not an expert in government ethics.  Are you?

Here's Fisher's letter:

  1. Uh, well I see a few problems in that letter.
    1. Good governance out the window.
    2. Honest elections down the toilet
    3. Reform, assassinated by Jen/Peter/Tiffanie
    4. Voter inconsistencies, he no longer cares

Everyone should ask for a refund. They got sold a lemon by Tiffanie.

  2. I keep reading about how Bhalla faces a 7-2 majority. But then you figure, would these people really eff up the Suez deal or UDD just to spite the mayor? It's already clear that if they do, the team Jen bloggers will shill for it. Their silence on Defusco replacing Doyle is all you need to know. Doyle is the enemy now, his decades of selfless service to the community forgotten just as easily as Ramos's perennial alliance with the worst actors the city has to offer.

But the bottom line for elected officials is that all of them will get thrown out on their asses if they really want to play this Beth 2.0 bad-for-the-mayor-is-good-for-me-even-if it-screws-the-city bullshit out to its logical conclusion. And no amount of manufactured outrage by their PR department will save them. The clock is ticking.

  3. I wonder if Tiffanie can recognize the irony of her May statement, that she "works tirelessly for good governance and clean elections", then votes for the guy whose VBM operation included warning seniors not to open their doors for county investigators, who is renowned for his less than stellar ethics, because (boo hoo) Ravi was mean to her best friend!

Now Tiffanie fights tirelessly against Reform governance, purged Reformers from positions of authority (NHSA, Planning Board) shut out Bhalla's At-Large Council members from ANY role in selecting board nominees...

Fisher is NOT fighting tirelessy for good governance nor clean elections any more. Now she is part of the problem- endorsing VBM harvesters and pro-development planning board members.

All because Ravi was a big meanie to her best friend. Boo hoo. Like High School. Petty and amoral.

  4. it wouldn't be fair or accurate to call tiffanie fisher a moron, because morons usually don't realize what they are doing. she, on the other hand, knows exactly what she is doing.

and it will spell the end of her thankfully short-lived political career.

  5. For Tiffanie this letter reflects her extraordinarily poor judgment - not understanding the impropriety of using her office to fund raise for a political blogger who supports her with his editorial content.

For Roman, it is yet again another example of his willingness to simply lie when the facts don't fit his narrative. One wonders what side Roman would be on if Tiffanie had declined to fundraise for him and he had gotten financial support from Zimmer or bhalla instead.

We'll never know and that's the point of"appearance of impropriety."

  6. i can't imagine this letter generated any donations, is she delusional enough to think she could actually convince anyone to "pony up" (pun intended). and there are a lot of accomplished, educated people in the tea building and elsewhere who are probably on her email list, and if on the off-chance any of them considered a subscription and actually bothered to visit his blog, i can't imagine the confusing grammar and lack of critical thinking would sway anyone to sign up either.

i dunno. i guess it's the thought that counts.

    1. We she was delusional enough to think the Mayor should have cut a back room deal with her, Jen and Peter on who would run as a reformer for mayor. She also was delusional enough to think Jen, a Republican that barely anyone really knows and who has almost no name recognition in town, could be a highly visible and popular city councilman that had the backing of the mayor. She is also delusional if she thinks any real reformer thinks Ramos, Defusco or Soares are worth putting up for any position of authority. Yeah, she is delusional. No doubt about it.

Either that or she is just so filled with spite, she wants to just ruin everything for everyone for her last 2 years in office before she gets voted out.

  7. So how does it work to become chair of the Hoboken Democratic Committee, and how did Tiffanie get this post? Is it a requirement that you have to care a lot about Democratic issues and stuff like that? Or just only somewhat care? I’ll grant that at one time, now long ago, there was a valid argument to be made for supporting Roman’s website which became less valid as the quality of his posts deteriorated. It’s just that at the time Tiffanie sent this fundraising email on his behalf he’d already been on his anti-Hillary/pro-Trump/pro-Russia/Deep State blatherings for about a year so I just wonder if this disturbed her. I’m a strong Democrat and it sure disturbed me enough to steer me away from the site. So then Tiffanie becomes Democratic chair five weeks later. And then becomes co-chair of a campaign that raised funds and then spent a substantial portion of that to pay a probable Trump operative. As Hoboken Democratic Committee chair what are her responsibilities and is she fulfilling them? Forgive the naive questions, but I don’t understand.
