These posters were hung in the HHA vicinity - a futile effort to stop the DeFusco campaign from hemorrhaging VBMs to the Romano campaign. |
"PURLOINED VBMS"
Of the 6 mayoral campaigns, Anthony 'Stick' Romano's had the largest street presence. Not only the blaring sound trucks, but teenagers. Lots of teenagers.
But, there was more street activity than that.
What we didn't see was a stealth operation to "purloin VBMS" alleged by the dashing Dark Sider, Perry Belfiore.
What we didn't see was a stealth operation to "purloin VBMS" alleged by the dashing Dark Sider, Perry Belfiore.
On October 18, 2017, Perry told GA, "Reports from 4th ward workers indicates workers from Romano campaign masquerading as DeFusco supporters are purloining VBMs from otherwise DeFusco supporters. Individuals who were with Ramos historically now working for Romano are sowing confusion with the electorate."
"How do you know?" I asked.
It looks like alleged purloining by Ramos-imposters had put a big dent in the anticipated Ramos harvest. These are the final 2017 VBM tallies:
Romano-506
DeFusco-325
Bhalla-192
Giattino-94
In a low turnout election such as a run-off, a good Ramos harvest is all that's needed to push one of their pals onto the City Council, or into the Mayor's Office.
Thanks to Jen Giattino, Tiffanie Fisher and Peter Cunningham for giving Ramos the imprimatur of decency, City Council belongs to the Dark Side and City Hall is within reach.
Thank you Tiffanie Fisher, Jen Giattino, and Peter Cunningham for your endorsement of the farming community! |
ROMANO'S ARMY
Surprise! Team Romano filed an amended 20-Day Post Election Report on January 10, 2018.
Team Romano's 16-page Disbursement Schedule (1-D) is posted below- could the print be any tinier? How about filing it on a grain of rice next time?
GA will summarize.
Out of $50,721.80 disbursed, $38,996 was paid to a combination of Canvassers, Poll Workers, GOTV, and Challengers, as follows.
- 21 Challengers were paid $100 each.
- 71 "Canvassing" payments ranging from $35 (lowest) to $836 (highest).
- 133 "GOTV" payments ranging from $18(lowest) to $340 (highest).
- 155 "Poll Workers" were paid $50 each (except several random payments of $100, $200, $25 and $20)
"Poll workers", huh?
Don't hurt your eyes trying to read this, people. Print it out-- then good luck.
Perry, Perry, Perry. Always dropping the $10 vocab words with a dime would do, to gussy up his image as more than your average OG thug.
ReplyDeleteJust remember, Perry, you can't purloin class...
Several things.
ReplyDeleteFirst, the 831 old guard VBMs does not include people who were paid at the polling place. The risk/reward assessment for the vote buyer is that while there is a chance the payee won't vote the right way if left to himself, it's small. But there's no paper trail as there is with a VBM. Consequently a lot of votes are handled that way and always have been.
You simply CAN NOT stand in opposition to instant runoffs and claim to be in favor of clean elections.
You KNOW that those 1000 votes will be decisive because you KNOW that turnout will drop by at least 1/3 in December.
If Tiffanie, Jen and Peter remain opposed to this measure and continue to hide behind parliamentary niceties to do it, write them off. They are dead to good government. There is NO middle ground. The two salient facts are there plain as day - continuing massive voter fraud and sharply reduced turnout in December runoffs. This does not even address the issue of reduced taxpayer expense for a single election.
IF YOU ARE PRO-DECEMBER RUNOFFS, YOU ARE PRO-DIRTY ELECTIONS. PERIOD.
Second, now that intellectual dishonesty has become the hallmark of Butt-hurt Nation, don't expect any coverage of this most vital issue anyplace else. The Reporter never bothered. Heinis covers the whole county at the event level but doesn't do investigative work to assess the broader implications of those 831 VBMs and connect the dots to December runoffs. And the other two blogs won't be covering anything that casts a shadow on their new favorites.
So Tiff, Jen and Peter (the latter two collected signatures for November elections to put an end to the very situation they now seek to reinstate) will get away with any lame explanation for this utter betrayal of the city - or no explanation at all, as has been the case with sketchy board appointments.
This site is the remaining holdout. The Bonkers for Bhalla Sybil's cave. Or whatever else it is being called today by people who once eagerly and energetically reported on the same stories with the same ethical perspective and now attack this site for continuing the fight - as though this site is the one that changed.
You don't have to watch GA's back. You don't have to "like" her posts on facebook, and I can't remember the last time anyone associated with Kid's First did. If Tiffanie tells them VBMs aren't a problem anymore and we can safely go back to low turnout elections, I guess that's enough for them. But if that isn't enough for YOU then you might want to start watching the back of this site. Because GA is the last man standing.

ReplyDeleteThird, a persistent narrative of Butt-hurt Nation origin has been to connect the proprietor of this site to the terrorist flyer. Or to walk right up to saying that and stop so as not to cross the line into defamation per se. It's quite the popular Butt-hurt Nation pastime. And evaluating Romano's ELECs would definitely not be good for that pastime - or for Tiff, Jen and Peter. So don't expect that to happen.
But you can still do it yourself.
Remember this guy? He was doing pre-filled VBMs that were being used to dupe Latino seniors into voting for Romano. He also did one for GA.
Because the story couldn't be used to club Bhalla, it was of zero interest to Butt-hurt Nation. There was a time when they would have been all over it. But that time has passed. So it was only covered here, just as Romano's final ELECs are only covered here.
The guy who signed those VBMs never appeared in any ELEC report, including this last one. "Poll workers" and "GOTV" people appear. Couriers/assistors appear. But he doesn't.
Some possible conclusions. He's a swell guy who only wants what's best for Hoboken while he's sitting over there in Nutley and doesn't need to be paid for it. He's a swell guy who thinks that Hoboken's future is too important to let a thing like duping people into voting for the wrong candidate get in the way. And doesn't need to be paid for it. Or he's a guy who got compensated through other channels.
If the latter, the best thing for the "GA made the flyers for Bhalla" narrative would be that he's the ONLY person like that in the Romano campaign. A rogue one-man VBM operation. Let's go with that. Other interpretations would be bad for the Butt-hurt Nation narrative, and we can't have that.
