DeFusco ELECs get Curiouser

Yesterday, GA told you that Mike DeFusco did not file as part of "Team DeFusco for Hoboken."  He is the only mayoral candidate who did not join his running mates on their "team" slate.

On closer examination of his campaign reports, it appears that the DeFusco campaign put a firewall between the candidate and his joint committee. Not only was there no 'overlap' in the candidates, but the candidate and his team had different Treasurers, even held accounts at different banks.
  • Team DeFusco for Hoboken ("Team DF") for Hoboken files a D-2 on July 5, 2017.  Michael Flett for At Large and Chairperson/ Treasurer is Ryan Yacco of Clifton, New Jersey.
  • Yacco files the "Team DF" account at TD Bank in Hoboken, at 47 Newark Street; the account name is Team DeFusco for Hoboken, Account number is 4338141643.
  •  Mike DeFusco for Hoboken Mayor files his D-1 on June 5, 2017. His Treasurer is Pedro Gonzales of Clifton, New Jersey.  Pedro is the father of Hoboken politico, Eduardo Gonzales.
  • Gonzales files Mike DeFusco for Hoboken Mayor's account at Wells Fargo, 95 River Street in Hoboken. The Account number is 2088935677.

Should GA stop there?

What reasons could the DeFusco campaign candidates have two different Treasurers banking at two separate banks.

Mike DeFusco clearly intended to keep his name off the Team DeFusco for Hoboken- an account that is getting serious PAC money in amounts which appears to violate Hoboken's P2P law by- a lot.

Which leaves Councilwoman-elect Vanessa Falco holding the bag, should the City enforce it's Pay-to-Play law.

Not very nice, Mike.

  1. The law should be enforced to the fullest extent possible. Let the chips fall where they may.

  2. Pretty odd maneuver. The smell is familiar though.
